Tall Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Figure

This pottery model of an official figure was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It is quite highly-fired and made from a pale pinkish-brown pottery and includes an integral hexagonal plinth on which the figure stands. The head has been made separately and slots into the hole at the neck...

One of a group of very large Ming Dynasty pottery horse riders.

The figure is of a military attendant, wearing a hat and carrying a sword on hiss side. He wears a green robe with yellow sleaves -Sancai colors. The unglazed areas are covered with white and black pigmented colors.

Note that the painting is very detailed and includes wonderful thick and perfectly rendered facial features.

Rare pair of Chinese Chrysanthemum Bowls or dishes, China, for ritual purpose, Ming Dynasty, c. 15th. century AD.

Ritual low food bowls or dishes for a rich Ming dynasty tomb, shaped in relief after the Chrysanthemum flower with a glaze of torquise and olive colours. Quite rarely seen as a large pottery model!
