The sinuous dragon is situated on a bi disc which is beautifully carved on the underside, as shown in the photographs. Agata cup of a beautiful yellow and amber color. Decorated in hight relief of Chilong, Lingzhi and Fenghuang (dragon, mushrooms and Phoenix) with highly symbolic value, in fact the male principle chilong and the female fenghuang should signify a marriage, the presence of immortal Lingzhi making the union eternal. The artist used a part of the stone which is different, naturally spotted and cracked to cut the Chilong which is thus subtly spotted like a leopard...

This is an authentic Neolithic Hongshan jade object, described in the literature as "hoof-shaped." Current scholarly opinion is that it was used to hold the individual's hair, based on where these objects have been found in excavated tombs. The piece measures 4-1/2" in height and is 2" in diameter. As with most published examples, it has two holes near the base which would have allowed the insertion of a "pin" to hold the hair in place...

This piece is made from a pale celadon stone with darker inclusions and veining...

$1,195.00
This is a large and heavy ancient Chinese nephrite scepter or adze.Measuring slightly more than a foot in length, the piece has two beveled ends, suggesting that it may have been intended for actual use, as opposed to a ritual item. As you will see in the photographs, there is a shallow groove that runs the entire length of the piece, possibly for attaching or securing some sort of handle (?). The stone itself is a mottled green and brown nephrite. Guaranteed ancient.

A beautifully polished ritual hand axe in a mottled green nephrite with lighter inclusions dating to the late Neolithic period, circa 3500-2500BCE. $1,195.00
An authentic example of a shape that one only rarely encounters, described by Rawson as "scoop-shaped" in her authoritative book on Chinese jade. A similar example in a darker stone is illustrated at page 115 (illustration 1:1). That piece is described as originating with the "Chahai" culture (Liaoning) and is dated to 4000-3500BC. This piece, as with the one published by Rawson, also has a curved cross-section and is drilled from both sides. The stone is a speckled light green...

Chinese : Antiquities : Hardstones : Pre AD 1000 item #1472159 (stock #01092023A)
Oldbailey Antiques
$1,495.00
This is a genuine, archaic Chinese nephrite axe or Gui scepter. The surface has the expected smooth, "waxy" feel to it. The end is sharpened (which leads me to think it was made as a prestige axe as opposed to a scepter, although the literature seems to view pieces such as this one as either/both an axe and a Gui scepter; e.g. Rawson in Chinese Jade - I've included photos of the pieces listed there for reference)...

Similar published examples can be found in Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Ching at pages 158-159 (the latter illustration showing a similar item from the collection of the British Museum). As with the other examples, these three pieces join together to form a ring...

You are considering a rare and beautiful Archaic Chinese Jade Scepter or Tablet, "Gui," dating to circa 2000BC. The piece measures 7.5 inches (18.5cm) in length and is, as one would expect, carved (drilled and polished) entirely by hand. As the photos will show, the stone is predominantly a gray-green nephrite, with some areas of darker brown. There are "striations" visible on the surface, which may indicate that the piece had been wrapped in a cloth/textile, which left an imprint...
