This is an awesome, excellently carved Urn made from Celadon Nephrite Jade with Mutton Fat and Russet inclusions.

It is carved with a Xiezhi (Justice Beast) motive. Two of these mythical creatures are shown sprawling in a recumbent manner on the front and back of the vase, with two stylized creatures crawling up on the sides. It has Xiezhi head handles with rings placed in the manner of the four directional coordinates...

A white jade of two frolicking animals "kissing" muzzle-to-muzzle. The smaller animal has a little curly tail while the larger one has a long tail going up against its back with a curl at the tip. The style in which their legs are carved gives this piece a feeling of playful activity. Can be worn as a pendant. The first depicting a blue bird on a lychee plant from the "Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting", Jieziyuan huazhuan, published in 1679 by Wang Gai. The second showing a bird on a fruiting branch, from the "Ten Bamboo Studio Manual of Calligraphy and Painting", Shizhuzai shuhua pu, published by Hu Zhengyan in the early 17th century. These painting manuals were very popular and reprinted many times, here 18th century editions...
