A rare Japanese bronze mirror in Tang style dating to the late Heian period decorated with Karahana, Tang flowers, and a pair of Mandarin ducks, symbols of marital fidelity. A distinguishing feature of Japanese mirrors was that each individual design was carefully carved into the sand mould using a spatula and similar tools, so that no mirror was identical, rather than using a mould as did the Koreans and the Chinese...

Design book of Japanese traditional patterns which are originally designed by Katsushika Hokusai (1760?~1849), a notable and prominent Ukiyo-e-shi. The title is "Shin-gata Kommon-cho", a new komon design book. It has a pair of two designs, which are woodblock print, black line in one page and colored in the other and each has a name. 74 patterns in a ciecle. In excellent condition. Published in Taisho 14 (1925) by Okamoto Ihei in Kyoto. 22cm x 17cm x 2cm

This white porcelain statue depicts a small seated Bodhisattva deep in meditation. Bodhisattva, otherwise known as bosatsu in Japan, are enlightened beings who have postponed Buddha-hood in order to remain on earth and help others to break their cycles of karma. The base of this statue is unglazed showing the fine porcelain clay from which it is crafted...

Four little red-lacquered Kamakura-bori dishes with a decorative carving of a dove. All with Hanko stamp to the back. Diameter "6 ¼ / 16.3 cm. Condition: a few minimal scratch marks.

Three cups and saucer trays by Noritake, Japan, mid 50’s. Saucers shaped like water lily leaves – a modernist design also reminding of the painter’s palette shape so much in vogue in the 50’s in ceramics, jewelry, teak wood and more. The cups to fit at one side, in order to allow for a sandwich or some biscuits. The back with the N and ribbon mark in use from 1953. Width of saucers "9 ½ / 24 cm, height of cups "2 2/3 / 6.8 cm. Condition: fine.

Japanese Imari Porcelain covered Bowl, Ca. 1920, 3 1/4" high with cover, 4 5/8" diameter-top rim, three(3) large Chinese Character "Dragon" within three(3) cartouches wrapped around with three(3) flying Dragons, typical Imari colors, red, green, gold on top of the underglaze blue in deep red background on the entire bowl and cover outside. Underglaze blue Chinese Character on top of the cover and bottom on white background...

Four(4) Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowls, for serving soup or rice, 4 1/2" diameter-top rim, 2 1/2" high, typical Imari colors, red, green, gold and underglaze blue with large Peony flowering branches spread out between large red Ruyi style cartouche. The condition is good, no damages.

It is 0.7 inch (1.8 cm) tall by 10.7 inches (27.3 cm) wide. It is 3 Lb.

It has loss of enamel, minor hairline cracks, surface wears and scratches, and stains (as seen in the photos).

Pair of Architectural corbels of mythological elephant baku’s are commonly placed under the eaves of Japanese Buddhist temple and Shinto Shrines to wore off evil spirits. The baku devour dreams and nightmares and protector against evil. The baku cannot be summoned without caution, however as ancient legions say that if the baku is not satisfied after consuming the nightmares, he may devour ones hopes and dreams...

A beautiful Japanese black lacquer over wood with applied mother of pearl charger featuring 2 sparrow-like birds surrounded by cherry blossoms. The branches have gold highlights and the cherry blossom buds have red lacquer accents. One small mop bud is missing, otherwise in very good condition. Measures 17 inches in diameter.

A set of three nesting Japanese Imari porcelain bowls. Richly decorated and gilded, all 3 bowls are identical and are signed on the bottom. Dates circa 1875.
All three are in excellent condition and they measure:
Large bowl: 9.75 inches x 4.25" high
Medium bowl: 8.5" x 3.75"
Small bowl: 7.25" x 3.25"

Japanese pair of Buddhist attendant figures. Each figure is carved of wood and painted with mineral pigments. Fine details are painted in gold gilt. They are draped in Chinese robes with long flowing sleeves, each wearing an ornate metal headdress. One attendant holds an offering, the other, a flower scepter made of wire with glass and wooden beads. Their inlaid eyes are made of glass.
