A fabulous bowl, scarred on both sides and decorated in the manner of the Oribe work held in the collection of the V&A by Shigemori Yoko enclosed in a signed wooden box titled Ao-tenten Natsu Chawan (Summer Tea Bowl with Blue Spots). It has been dipped in two different colors of overlapping glaze, with random strikes of black punctuated by dribbles and splatters of blue and red...

Katakuchi has been used as server for sake or other liquid in Japan for long term. Painting in ink, polychromy and gold on silk. The scene represents (several sennins) Taoist immortals with children or servants. In the background we can distinguish mountains more or less masked by golden clouds. In the center of the screen we can see Chokaro with his gourd, Chinnan with two dragons emerging from his alms bowl, and Tekkai leaning against his cane and pointing his finger at Jurojin who is mounted on a white crane...

Cut iron tsuba. Decor of dragons and sacred pearls. Inside the beads, tiny iron balls are mobile. The style is called Namban. This kind of tsuba is little represented without however being rare. But the model presented here is exceptionally of excellent quality. Indeed the blacksmith has cut out his pattern excessively finely like an iron lace. We do not know of a model with such thin wires cut at the extreme limit of the constraints of the metal...

Japanese sword hilt (tsuba) in gold damascened iron (nunomezogan). The metal is finely cut with dragons pursuing the sacred pearl in the Namban style. The pearl is pierced and contains a small movable ball. Japanese work beginning of the 17th century Edo period. Dimensions 72x5mm Good condition.

Here is a beautiful but unsigned Namikawa Sosuke vase. Those familiar with Sosuke's work, will know this vase was made by the master and is authentic. It's a stoutly made piece with silver rims. It stands 6 1/4 inches tall. This vase is in excellent condition. I have also provided an image of a later made, but very similar signed Sosuke vase.

This hand pinched Guinomi by Shigemori Yoko has been decorated with rough large polkadots in black applied directly to the still wet clay creating a dry, porous surface and unique texture. The vessel is 9 cm (3-1/2 inches) diameter, 5 cm (2 inches) deep and in excellent condition. It comes enclosed in a wooden box titled simply Guinomi annotated by her nephew.

A classic work echoing the Zen aesthetic of Boku-seki (Brush-traces) of Zen lore by Shigemori Yoko enclosed in a signed wooden box titled simply Guinomi. It is 7 cm (just less than 3 inches) diameter, 5 cm (2 inches) tall and in excellent condition enclosed in a box signed by her nephew Tetsu.

Two panels with a cracked cream-white background are decorated on one side with a palace scene representing the Empress and her dancer and musical courtesans and on the other side the Mikado fighter. Indeed, above the central figure floats a flag bearing the imperial emblem of Japan, the 32 petalled chrysanthemum...

A Japanese Boxwood netsuke depicting a Dutchman with a child on his shoulder and a trumpet. Excellent blond patina on the front in contrast to the darker part on the back. Large holes in the image on the side. Edo period late XVIII century Sizes: 8 x 3 x 2.5 cm. Condition report: Good condition

A magnificent Kogaratsu Katakuchi Chawan (Ko-Karatsu tea bowl with a pouring spout), fired between the Azushi Momoyama period (1573-1603) and the early stage of the Edo Period (1603-1868).

It is no exaggeration to say that this tea bowl needs to be described as a true museum quality piece of art.

Especially such old Karatsu bowls are rarely available in the version of a Katakuchi bowl. Essentially, it's a bowl with a spout...
