Antique Japanese lacquer vanity box with a nishiji (sprinkled gold) background, gold lacquer painted flora including peonies and chrysanthemums, recessed side handles, four front drawers with hirute style handles. The top of the box has a lacquer stand and mirror box, with painted butterfly. Inside the box is the Original bronze mirror with flying cranes and trees. A Fuchi and Kashira set with flowers decoration with gold and silver overlay decoration on shakudo relief and nanako ground. Good, serviceable condition (a small, fine line fracture from the rim of the fuchi not at all compromising function or presentation.) An easy motif to match if fitting a sword (we may do so if not first selling them.) Fuchi length, 1 17/32 inches (3.89 cm)

A large Japanese antique oribe ware ceramic teapot with thick dripping blue green glaze, ridged edges, two handles, large finial on lid, bare areas on sides painted with flowers. 20th Century Size: 16" H, 17" W

A wonderful large Japanese wood carved statue of an anthropomorphic tanuki. He holds a large mokugyo or temple bell with carved dragons in one hand and a lacquered drumstick in the other. Beautifully preserved, hand-carved antique piece.

This is a beautiful Japanese cloisonne vase. Though not signed, the workmanship and colors clearly speaks Hayashi Kodenji made this. This same opinion is held by North America's leading cloisonne collector. The vase stands 7 1/4 inches tall. It appears perfect but there is a virtually invisible repair to the midnight blue enamel edge shown in the last image.

Extraordinary stunning Japanese robe of purple woven asa (hemp), with gold woven through in striations and bold gingko leaf design. The suou is the traditional kimono once worn during ceremonies by the samurai during the Muromachi period (1392-1573).
As styles of fashion evolved latter around the 17th century onwards, the suou became in important costume worn by the actors of the noh and kyogen theaters. Today the suou is still used in Noh and Kyogen, and with the Shrine maidens...

Depicted in a farmer with horse in water plowing in prepartion to plant rice. A willow or other weeping tree, to one side, not yet with blooms. Nicely detailed with featured highlighted with gold and silver overlay. The water nicely textures with an itame (wood grain) effect. Serviceable, fair to good condition...

A breathtaking Taisho period image of the Buddha in meditation by Takayama Shunryo. It is performed with gold appliqué and brilliant mineral pigments on silk, mounted in a fine mounting of blue cloth ending in bone rollers and enclosed in a kiri-wood box. The scroll is is 21 x 76.5 inches (53.5 x 194 cm) and is in fine condition.

Ch¨­sen Karatsu (³¯õrÌƽò) Chawan with a fantastic vivid glaze. It dates from the late Edo Period, no cracks, no repairs.

This traditional style was introduced by one or more potters brought from the Joseon Dynasty during the Japanese invasions of Korea. It features a black glaze placed under a white glaze which has been fired with straw. The two glazes run together and give a feeling of opposites.
