$325.00 This is a fabulous woven silk fukusa designed with Japanese tastes in mind. It is woven in silk with the addition of gold lacquered silk threads. Each of the four corners has four turtle tassels. The reverse side is red with a gold paulownia mon also woven with god threads. This is a very striking piece and makes a superb interior design statement. In excellent condition, it measures 24.5” square. We date this to mid-Showa.

Sold, with thanks! A fine rendition of a plum by Tanaka (Zuitai) Ryurei (commonly known as Ryudojin, 1740-1804)). Ink on paper, it has been fully remounted in a silk frame with wooden rollers reflecting the original style. The scroll is 12-1/2 x 70 inches (31.5 x 178 cm).
Ryudojin was born in Owari, near modern day Nagoya. He is referred to also as Ryurei Zuitai and or Ryudo Reizui or simply Ryurei. Born into the Tanaka family, he was sent to the priesthood at Reigenji at the age of 11...

It has an unidentified kiln mark. The slightly irregular kutsu-gata form settles easily into the palm of the hand, with the built up rim resting lightly on the fingers. Raku pottery is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony since as early as the 16th century. The seal of the potter is stamped at the bottom. Size 2.613in. (6.7cm.) high; 4.212in. (10.8cm.) diameter; 230g weight. Condition Good considering the age. There is a chip at the rim. Please see the photos for details. No cracks.

sold, with thanks! An unusual long inverted pottery cone on a silver plated base by Kiyomizu Rokubei VI enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Gengama Senmon Kabin. It is 15 inches (38 cm) tall and in excellent condition. Rokubei began experimenting with these fluted froms in the 50s, and what he called “Gengama” glazes around 1960. My guess is that this piece dates circa the early 60s. I have never seen another example like this with a metal base...
