Very rare and unusual wood tiled village shrine from Dema - mura village in Mie Province. Dated the year of the tiger C.1818 the shrine houses gods and happiness. Signed on the back with the date and maker, Fujiwara Shokichi. Cypress wood with a bronze lock on the doors to the inner chamber. Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest), original dark brown translucent lacquer finish, made of sugi (cryptomeria), iron hardware, one shelf on interior of slider compartment, Meiji Period (1868-1912). Size: 43" high x 37 1/4" wide x 15 1/4" deep.

Drinking dancing and shamisen playing, a skeleton crew doing donchan-sawagi on the back of a pale gray jiban crepe-silk kimono. The figures are performed in the painstaking shibori technique where each dot is hand knotted before dying, each laborious knot making up one dot in the matrix of the design. The piece likely dates from the Meiji to early Taisho era, late 19th to early 20th century. This is not one of the modern bleached versions of this theme, but an antique original...

Naturalistic crayfish made of copper from the Meiji period, 1868 -1912. The piece is unusual in that the legs, antennae, and tail move in the same way that a real crayfish moves. It is signed Shinju on the base of the body. It measures 6" long.

Antique Japanese porcelain bottle, with a light beige crackle glaze, and blue underglaze designs of a sailing boat floating atop of waves, and a solid blue ring around the base. Antique Japanese copper hanging lamp, Meiji period, 1868-1912. This is a beautiful lantern with panels decorated with peonies in a field of arabesques. Three smaller hanging blossoms hang off the top of the lantern. The lantern has two doors that open and are fastened shut with a decorated arm. The lower register is decorated with panels incised with a repeating wave design. The feet of the lantern are petal or leaf shaped, decorated with an incised arabesque design...

Charming Antique Japanese complete original set of 20 blue and white porcelain bowl. Swirling geometric designs decorate the inner edges with a center image of pine trees. There are two decorative bands, one around the neck and one around the body. Silver mark and Ando mark on bottom. It measures 12" tall the base is 5" wide the mouth is 7" wide. Antique Japanese cloisonne vase with black enamel background; one side with imagery of two cranes standing beside a creek, bright flowers and bamboo in the background; the other side with a male peacock standing on a rock structure beside a female peacock, blooming peonies behind them. Geometric designs with scrolling vines and flowers decorate the neck. Lovely patina. The bottom of the vase is engraved with the signature Kamano. Size: 5.75" height

Antique Japanese cloisonne jewelry/treasure box, made from bronze, with deep navy blue sides decorated with gold cloud shapes. The lid has a beautiful cloisonne landscape with overhanging cherry blossoms on tree branches, a tower and building with blue roofing, and a red bridge crossing over a running river.
