A rarely encountered Japanese oversized sosaku hanga woodblock print by Asaga Manjiro (1885-1965) dating circa 1950's. Asaga Manjiro was the elder brother of Maekawa Senpan. He was known for his Noh theater and Otsu-e prints. Paper size: 20 1/4"V x 15 3/8"H (image: 17 5/8" x 12 7/8"). Excellent condition with full margins. Never framed. Traces of paper residue from the original folder remain on the back at the left top and bottom corners.

Image size about 17"V x 10"H (paper size: 17 7/8"V x 11 1/4"H). Very good color and overall condition. There is a small piece of tape remnant at the upper back margin edge verso. It does not show through on the front. There is a tiny bit of tape residue at the bottom edge and at the side margin. Both show through to the front very slightly...

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a pavilion in the woods near a pond by Inui Tai (b. 1929). The artist was active from the end of the 1940s through the 1980s and was heavily influenced by the work of Shiko Munakata. Paper size: 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" (image: 9 3/8" x 11 3/8"). Very good overall condition with some wrinkling to the fine paper and minor soiling to the bottom margin edge. Similar prints by this artist can be seen in the online collection of the Spencer Museum...

Attached to a sheet of handmade Japanese washi paper inscribed in black ink in kanji verso with the artist's signature, the title "Fugu" (Pufferfish), and date of 1959. A Kannon Bosatsu wooden statue from the early Meiji Period (19th century) with rests of its original paint.

It is a unique peace of buddhist art, as it bears on its back a writing with black ink from a Samurai. The charakters mean Saikoku Sanjusansho (The Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage), made by 'Yasukuni Joza' in the status of Bushi (Samurai) in Bungo area, Oita Prefecture.

There are no similar pieces to find. It is really matchless and singular. Perfect Wabi-Sabi condition as...

A fine sterling silver sculpture of a Yatch in full sail featuring gold inlay bands on the sail. Titled "Yacth" by Japanese master artist Seki Takehiko, it is in excellent condition the sculpture measures 5.5" high.
