A set of four fans (uchiwa) made of bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). Each has hand-painted pictures and signs such as three kabuki "kumadori" which is special makeup of the kabuki player and Otahuku. Large limited edition Japanese lithograph with red sumi-e brush strokes by Toko Shinoda (b. 1913) titled "Fleeting Dream." This early undated image is pencil-signed, titled, and numbered 26/30 in the lower left margin. Paper size: 28 5/8" x 22". This print was never framed and is in excellent overall condition. From a Phoenix, Arizona estate. It was originally purchased from the Tolman Collection.

A Japanese mezzotint print by artist Katsunori Hamanishi (b. 1949-present). He graduated with an art degree from Tokai University in 1973 and has since been living in Kyoto to work on his printmaking.

This mezzotint is titled "Play-I", numbered 20/70 of its series, and hand signed by the artist in pencil.

Japanese mid 20th century bronze vase by metal artist NEYA CHUROKU (1897 - 1987). The tall vase is done with a dragonfly and autumn grass design. The vase measures 17 7/8" tall and 6" in diameter.

According to the potter who crafted this fine piece, “The clay from our area in the north is alive. We listen to it in order to divine the most suitable objects to create.” Here we see the clay wished to become a well-formed ceremonial tea bowl with an impressionistic rendition of a Japanese Iris. Simple, well formed, and with a soft rusticity; a cup of tea becomes a meditation on the charms of quiet country living.

Japanese Late 20th Century cloisonné enamel koro (incense burner). Raised wire design of trees. The koro stands on three small feet. The koro measures 6 1/8" tall by 3 1/4" in diameter. Comes with wooden storage box. There is some slight darkening of the color of the body of the piece, in the lower area, from use.

An iron vase intentional rust and damascened silver of a Flat-fish on one side, the other au-natural by Sano Hiroshi exhibited at the 48th Kofukai Tenrankai Exhibition in 1962 and enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Karai (flat-fish). It is 53.5 cm (21 inches) wide, 37 cm (14-1/2 inches) tall and in fine condition.
Sano Hiroshi was born in Jūshiyama, Aichi prefecture in 1930, and graduated the Nagoya Municipal School of Crafts in 1950...

A large and elegant Wa-gumi basket by Yufu Shohaku signed on the base made up of alternating strips of finely braided bamboo rope and bands of raw bamboo. This is a dramatic work measuring 22 x 20 x 14 inches (56 x 50 x 35 cm).
