An exquisite sake cup from the Asakiri kiln of Akashi decorated with a verse and spray of bamboo enclosed in a period wooden box signed by Yamada Takeshi (descendant of Yamada Kikutaro, Edo period founder of the kiln). It is 5 cm (2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition, likely dating from the Meiji period.

An exquisite minimalist set of Ten Porcelain tea cups with lacquered wooden covers and saucers made by the Zohiko studio of Kyoto and enclosed in the original compartmentalized signed wooden box. The cups are of simplistic form small round white orvs between the brush textured lacquer lids and saucers. The cups are 3 inches (7 cm) diameter, the saucers 5 inches (12 cm) diameter. Overall in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

Extraordinary Hagi Chawan made by Seigan Yamane. The bowl is covered with a wonderful draft ice glaze. Mint condition.

Seigan Yamane was born in 1952, and started making Hagi ware in 1987. And then, he started his own pottery in 1992 and has ever been awarded a lot of prizes for his great work.

A charming porcelain figurine of Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Fortune. Fukurokuju is the god of wisdom and longevity, and is easily recognized by characteristics such as his dramatic, elongated forward, his root wood cane, and the scroll he holds. He wears a beautiful, flowing robe with flying cranes accented by gilt outlines. The cranes are an attribute to Fukurokuju as they, too, are a symbol of longevity.

A small bronze, hakudo (white bronze), early handled mirror 17.2cm long. The mirror portion measuring 7.7cm in diameter. Typically for an early bronze mirror, it is basically a round handleless mirror, even down to a pierced boss for the attachment of a ribbon, with an attached handle...

The design of this mirror has not entirely escaped the conventions of earlier Kagami-e (Long handled Mirrors) of the late Muromachi –Momoyama era, which are essentially mirrors of conventional round form retaining a central boss to which a handle has been attached. In this example the Cranes are arranged directly opposite each other, their beaks meeting with that of the kame, to create a T form; a convention that appears in the late 16th century...

A finely enamelled Japanese export bowl decorated with Chrysanthemums and Peonies between a pair of Fan Shaped reserves of Kiku form. The petals alternating between a gilt leaf and tendril blue brocade and an unusual iron red shaded wash. The veins of the gilt leaves created by the use of a scraffito technique. The interior with a band of peony and prunus sprigs. The central well of the bowl decorated with an iron red and gilt kiku mon. A single ring to the interior of the foot-rim of the bowl...

This lovely Shino tea bowl fashioned from coarse Mino clay and covered in a crackled feldspar glazing shows nice age and comes with what appears to be its original box.

Shino-ware dates to the Momoyama period when potters were attempting to recreate white porcelain-wares that were being imported from China at the time. Originally they were made in a single-chamber anagama style kilns set into the hillsides...

Done in the Annan style which is a Japanese adaptation of porcelain-wares imported from a region of ancient Imperial China (now part of Vietnam) from the late Muromachi period (1392 - 1573). At the time this type of pottery was hugely popular among tea devotees and this enthusiasm continues into the modern day...

This is natural indigo dyeing Shirusi-Hanten made at the beginning of the Meiji period. This gets texture and others by cotton and silk. As for this, cotton and silk are spun by hand. It is rare that Shirusi-Hanten is woven by cotton and silk. Most are only cotton. This has fading with several places of a few holes, but the state is good. This was sewed for a child again. Size 65cm x 103cm (25.5 "x40.5")

Old (1920's) Japanese Lacquer Inro with Boxwood Toad Netsuke by Masanao III Miyake Kisaburo

It is 2.8 inches (7.2 cm) tall and 2.2 inches (5.5cm) wide. The netsuke is 1.2 inches (3 cm) by 0.97 inch (2.5 cm) wide. It is 42.9 gram.

It is in good condition with no repairs except chips, peeling of lacquer and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).
