Pines in the Rimpa style grow on the folded surface of this fan painted by Kamisaka Sekka and enclosed in the original signed wooden box, retaining the original paper binding on the fan itself. It is 12 inches (30 cm) long folded, and in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese tsuba (hand guard for a samurai sword), made all of iron and cast in the form of a daikon raddish. The leafy tops of the daikon are highly raised and the raddish root itself twists around becoming the circular rounded edge of the tsuba. Wonderful three dimensional quality. Edo Period. Japanese antique tsuba (hand guard for a samurai sword), cast all of iron. The motif appears to be a combination of two kamon (family crests); one being the inside part of a mokko crest and the other the swirling comma shaped arms of a tomoe or mitsudomoe (Shinto) mon. Antique Japanese hibachi or brazier made of beautiful original keyaki hardwood. Bold natural grain with warm finish. The front features five small drawers convenient for storage. An exquisite Japanese koro incense burner carved from a piece of plum blossom colored agate and enclosed in a period wooden box. It is 3-1/2 x 5 x 4-1/2 inches (9 x 12.5 x 11.5 cm) and is in excellent condition, dating from the early 20th century.

A blossom shaped porcelain plate asymmetrically decorated with fruits, flowers and birds above bonsai scissors, in underglaze blue, white, green and gold. The base with blue auspicious character mark. Brown glazed rim. Condition: some wear to gold. Dimension: diameter 21.6 cm and 3.6 cm high.

A striking design rises up the pin-holed surface of this set of Tokkuri with genuine gold repairs about the rim dating from the late 18th to 19th century and enclosed in a period wooden box. They are 2 inches (5 cm) diameter, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall.

One Finely formed and decorated Japanese blue and white porcelain dish. The deep, foliate rim fired to chocolate brown along the edge is suggestive of kakiemon influence. Decoration of figure seated in royal ease pose, perhaps Kannon, in rich foliate garden setting centered by repetitive characters (perhaps suggestive of sutra or chants) inside the deep rim. Fine blue and white decoration of a landscape on one panel and particularly fine shades of blue decoration of a flowering prunus branch on another. Karakusa decoration on the back. A good, Japanese iroe imari dish of square form with garden landscape decoration in red, green, yellow, aubergine, black and gold enamel and underglaze blue. The center panel decorated with pines, plantains and maples among rockery and below stylized clouds. The rockery employing "master of the rocks" technique of consecutive contour lines - the stylized clouds echoing the technique. Good condition. 7 to 7 1/8 inches square. Charming original print by the famed artitst Mayumi Oda. Entitled "Meet the Lord of Obstacle II" and numbered 27 in the series. The image depicts a green goddess (perhaps Green Tara, the Goddess of Compassion) in tantric embrace with a white Ganesha, the Hindu Remover of Obstacles. Large original Antique Japanese large low-fire ceramic mask of the Lucky God, Daikoku. His laughing face is round and painted with charming detail to his beards and eye brows. He is wearing his traditional hat that has been hand painted with great detail. One of the Lucky Gods, Diakoku is the God of Good Fortune as well as a god of the kitchen. It is possible that this mask may have hung on the wall in a temple's kitchen...

A beautiful Japanese hand-embroidered silk wall hanging with a scene of two elegantly fighting roosters. Each one surrounded by nicely detailed dandelions and chrysanthemums. Forbidden stitch work used in the center of each flower. Pine tree branches overhang the scene with interesting fine detail. The bottom left is embroidered with a red jar bearing artist's signature.
