Hagi ware, also known as Hagi-yaki, is a type of traditional Japanese pottery that originated in the town of Hagi, located in Yamaguchi Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan...

This is a breathtaking work of art, a cherubic figure forms the finial of this later Edo period ceramic incense burner. Atop the lid strides a youth in purple robes wearing a lotus leaf as a hat and blowing a flue, a staff lays at his feet. About the square box of the ash pot are exquisite-colored designs lined with gold like precious jewels dangling from the edge. Two beast heads protrude from the sides and the entire is elevated on a square foot...

A bowl, hachi, of kiku-gata, moulded Chrysanthemum form, decorated to the interior with low relief kiku-mon, stylised chrysanthemum flower heads. The narrow panels partly painted in underglaze blue with a gilt lozenge diaper pattern inset with swastikas, and brocades inset with various contrasting motifs of kiku-mon, hanabishi-mon, and matsu-mon (a view of the end of a Pine branch). The remaining four double panels with kiku-mons and Peony and Chrysanthemum sprays...

A Japanese Lobed-shaped bronze vase with dark brown patina with flowers and leaves in high relief with a sparrow clinging to a branch. Signed Genryusai Seiya under the base. Origin: Japan Period: Meiji late 19th cent. Dimensions: 32 x 17 x 17 cm. Conservation status: Very Good

Japanese porcelain soup tureen whose shape is inspired by European goldsmith pieces. On the sides two heads of modeled Buddhist lions and on the lid a crown. Simple decor of phoenixes, flowers, plants and waves in the color palette of the Imari style. An old collector's label indicated that this tureen was part of the service of Augustus the Strong. Probably verifiable statement for motivated collectors...

Thick molten ash drivels over the shoulder of this fabulous 17th century Shigaraki Tsubo storage jar showing all the great attributes of Shigaraki ware. It has a large open ware (pronounced wa-ray) crack down the front, which does not go through to the inside, and the fire blasted front surface is shot with fine heat cracks. A large Kutsuki to the lower let shows where it adhered to something else in the kiln during the firing...

Japanese woodblock Shunga print. Good condition. Unsigned like most Shunga but confidently ascribed to SHUNCHO active 1780-1800. Paper size 25.5x34.5. Can be viewed in central London and shipped worldwide.

Gold pinstripes glimmer beneath the yellow glaze of this striking pitcher by Ono Jiro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yuri Kinsai Suichu. The vessel is expertly crafted, with the title Suichu being open ended, so that it may serve for serving Japanese sake, tea or any other liquid. It is 21 cm (8 inches) tall and in excellent condition. In the first photograph it is shown with a sake cup made by his wife Emi, the cup is not included...

Seto Kuro Oribe (black oribe) kutsugata (shoe-shaped) chawan with a rounded brim, made in the late Edo Period around 1850. This rare type of tea bowl was made from light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay which contains some iron oxide and and a rich black glaze (made from ground up Kamagawa stones) which partially obscures the white designs on the side. The Chawan fits nicely in your hands and looks great filled with bright green matcha...

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print titled in pencil at the lower margin "Haniwa (7)" by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997). vintage Okimono. It has flowers, butterfly and ribbon on neck design.
The Dog is made from crackle glazing semi porcelain body.
Bottom of Dog Okimono has some kind stain. It has four felt circles,
preventing scratch when placing on the wooden top.
The condition of dog excellent. No crack, no hairline and no damage...
