$650.00 Very exquisite lacquer tea caddy (natsume), cylindrical form with round lid, finely decorated in gold made by the second Tamura Toshihide in the late 19th century. He was the successor and the son of one of the greatest MAKIE artisans of all time, the 1st Tamura Toshihide (1757 - 1833). Pine leaves are molded on the body, and - another highlight - natural seashells are decorated on it. This tea caddy is made of natural wood and coated with high-class Japanese natural Gold lac... Chinese Song dynasty shallow bowl covered in a pale finely crackled gray-green qingbai (yingqing) glaze that stops at the unglazed slightly recessed low foot. The exterior is decorated with carved and/or moulded petal forms. Measures just over 6” diameter x 1 3/4" high. Circa 13th century. Very good overall condition. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
