He was the successor and the son of one of the greatest MAKIE artisans of all time, the 1st Tamura Toshihide (1757 - 1833). Pine leaves are molded on the body, and - another highlight - natural seashells are decorated on it. This tea caddy is made of natural wood and coated with high-class Japanese natural Gold lac... Chinese Song dynasty shallow bowl covered in a pale finely crackled gray-green qingbai (yingqing) glaze that stops at the unglazed slightly recessed low foot. The exterior is decorated with carved and/or moulded petal forms. Measures just over 6” diameter x 1 3/4" high. Circa 13th century. Very good overall condition. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
