Slightly different size for hand-made, as approx. 17.5-18 x 2.6-3 cm (6.88-7.08 x 1.02-1.18in). TWO WHITE DOLLS

Unfinished Japanese dolls made of paulownia wood covered with gofun (white pigment), as two types of matte and slightly glossy one, Showa period, 20th century, Large: 17.5 x 8 x 6.5 cm (6.88 x 3.14 x 2.55in). Some crackles at gofun surface but unfatal.

Bronze vases decorated with irises. The flowers are inlaid with gold and silver, and the lanceolate leaves are inlaid with greenish patinated bronze. Marked below by a goldsmith's company, and Chinese characters incised on each vase indicating the name of the goldsmith. Japanese work from the Showa period, early 20th century. Height: 125mm

Indian antique miniature painting of two noblemen visiting a young Maharaja on an outdoor terrace. The young man sits on a throne and is fanned by an attendant. His tall crown with white feather finial denotes his royal status. The scene is edged with delicate scrolling vines in gold on black which is beautifully repeated on the wooden frame. The area between is decorated with colorful sprays of blossoming flowers. Painted in gouache and gold on paper.

An unusual Burmese Buddhist Kamavacca. Estimated to be late 19th century. 50x10cm Unlike the majority of these manuscripts which have a textile or vegetable base this one is on metal. It comprises 9 leaves and 2 thick wood decorated covers. Condition good with some losses to corners but nor affecting text. Purchased in London from Henry Brownrigg in 1992 and now fresh to the market after being in one collection for 33 years.
