A Huali wood covered box was preserved in a very good condition. By sound structure and well track-moved lid, the wood box was yielded with charming brownish patina on the surface inside and out. Darken hue was accumulated in portions due to enduring age. In quite good size, it was used as a storage box for scholar’s utensils. Date: Qing Dynasty, late 19th Century. Dimensions: 22cm x 18.5cm x 7.2cm. 17 x 9 x 7 inches, 43 x 23 x 18 cm. Rare 18th Century Korean Animal Hide Box. There is a similar 18th Century example in the Tenri University Sankokan Museum, illustrated in the book The Korean Relics in Japan Volume 4, page 339.
