A Japanese 19th century Banko ware teapot. Modelled as a leather pouch with a plissé edge and ties forming a handle (where the potter’s finger prints are visible). Enamelled flowers and relief moulded decoration of geese in white clay. Traces of gilt around edge and spout. Banko mark. No lid. Height “3½/ 9 cm, width including handle “6/ 15 cm. Condition: fine

Chinese vase with clay sculpture of a dragon on the top of the vase. The vase is decorated with ancient to old bronze coins from different eras of Chinese history. In the middle, there is an inscription written about the history of Chinese coin minting technology. The calligraphy is titled: Gu Qian Ton Shuo, the story of the ancient coins. Calligraphy is signed and dated; May of 1884, brushed by Qian long shi yuan Zhao Zhun guang. Age; 19th century. Size: Diameter: 14" Height: 23.75"

A small jar, painted in Famille rose colours with a blue rock formation, peony and poppy (?). Qianlong period ( 1736-1795). Height "3¼/ 8 cm. Condition: fine.

A Chinese gaming counter, made for the European market in the late 18th century. Mother of pearl, engraved with a star and a flower border to one side, the other with a vase motif. Round, with lobed sides, diameter "1½/ 3,4 cm. Condition: fine.

A Chinese export blue and white plate, Qianlong, c 1750. Decoration of a laid garden table under a willow tree and among peony, all surrounded by butterflies (?) and crickets. Diameter "9/ 23 cm. Condition: rim frits, some wear and a glaze bubble to the well.

A Chinese export Imari dish, Kangxi period, early 18th century. Fluted sides and decoration of peony and chrysanthemum in iron red and gilt over under-glaze blue. Diameter "10/ 25,5 cm. Condition: rim frits, a hairline and a 3 cm restoration to the rim (cf. pictures).

A pair of Japanese dishes or plates, probably late Edo, early 19th century. Overglaze decoration in iron red, aubergine, black, green and gilt of discussing scholars in a landscape of rocks and banana trees. In the centre Qilin, the mythical and auspicious animal, in underglaze blue. The back with auspicious symbols. Diameter "8½/ 21,5 cm (both plates). Condition: both dishes with some wear to the decoration, one with a chip to underside of rim (cf. pictures).

Three Shishi lions or “Foo dogs”, the guardian animals that used to be placed outside temples and imperial buildings. Two of the three originally formed the knobs of urn lids, the third and smallest is a lid from a miniature incense vessel or urn. Two with aubergine and green/turquoise glaze, the third in crackle-glaze gilt. Height of biggest Foo dog "2¾/ 7 cm, of smallest "1/ 2,5 cm. Condition: the angry, middle-sized dog has got his right back leg restored.

A pair of hanging scrolls by Kano Dohaku Chikanobu (1772-1821), a famous Edo period painter, 5th head of the Surugadai branch of the Kano School. In 1813 he received the honorary title of "Okurakyo-Hogen" (law of the eye).The pair contains an image of three geese set near a marshland with reeds. Scroll comes with box that woud be of the period. Age: Mid-Edo Period( 1800-1820). Size per scroll: Height: 70.25" Width: 14.25" (with ends) 16.25".

Zen triptych scroll by Sesson Shukei (1504?-1589) The set of three are paintings of a radish and nappa cabbage with Lao Tzu riding a bull as its centerpiece. Scroll set comes with a box with paper labels naming the object and figure in the painting. One label reads that one of the Kano Eisen (the first or second) had provided an opinion, but the orignal document does not exist anymore. Age: Late Muromachi 16th century. Antique Korean traditional bandaji (blanket storage chest) that is also a fold out secretary desk with 5 small drawers and organizational compartments, exterior has beautiful cut out hardware with intricate filigree and birds, large handles and lock, circa 1900. Size: 44" high (44 1/2" high with lock) x 40 1/4" wide x 20" deep (when closed).

An amazing wood sculpture of a standing lady looking at a mirror while fixing her hair. Sculpture was done by Owa Sakunai (1894- active 1987) originally Sakunai was a farmer in Nagano and did sculpture as a hobby. Sakunai received the opportunity to study at the Academie Julian when he was 65 years old. After his study in France, he submitted many of his works to the Nihon Bijutsu-in exhibition.
