SOLD DESCRIPTION: A handsome rectangular Chinese chest crafted from a deep red ox leather and furnished with brass fittings. The interior still has the original blue silk lining and would have originally held scrolls or documents. Today it would make an attractive accent piece on top or underneath a cabinet or table. SOLD Massively huge Dark Bronze Japanese Temple Bell Bowl, with ridged edges along its rim and raised, scale-like pattern around its bottom. . Japanese Temple Bell Bowl was used during chanting, or as an indication of a change in time or activity. This is truly the largest bell bowl I have ever seen. Three stamped kanji characters "Kin Ryu ____?" on rim translates as Golden Dragon _____? (last one is illegible). Excellent condition and sound.

SOLD Lovely Japanese Hira Taiko Drum, made from a light hardwood, and hung from a Hiratsuri stand. The drum has iron studding to keep its drum skins in place and gold kanji/kana on a black metal strip, with a gold taiko logo for Maru Masa. A drumstick is included which hangs off a hook from the Hiratsuri stand. Makes a lovely drum sound as it is intact and in good condition.

SOLD Antique painting of a scene from one of the poems in the Kokin Wakashu or "Collection of Japanese Poems of Ancient and Modern Times", dated from the Heian period (794-1185 AD). It was invented and published by Emperor Uda and his son, Emperor Daigo in the year 905, and was compiled by four of their court poets: Ki no Tsurayuki, Ki no Tomonori, Oshikochi Mitsune, and Mibu no Tadamine. $850.00 Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "Observing the Cries of the World." She is seated upon a large wooden seat and wears a gorgeous cascading robe with strands of beads adorning her torso and legs. In her right hand she holds the branch of a willow tree. She is extremely detailed and beautiful. Dates from 19th century.

On temples and palaces, representations of mounted warriors and snarling dragons were meant to ward off evildoers of both the physical and spiritual kind.

SOLD Gorgeous scenic painting by Chinese artist Tsui Chian Tsai of a small town amidst a beautiful mountainous landscape, with a murky, grey sky and delicate white speckles of paint to represent the falling snow. Two large boats are returning to shore, covered in snow from their long trip. Very detailed work with a lot of realism, the artist truly captured the feeling of an extremely cold climate. Sale Pending Gentleman's wooden walking stick with a carved antler handle of an adorable little bobtail monkey, sitting upon an ocean cliffside and clutching a shell.
