Chinese soapstone chop seal with three carved foo dogs standing on a pedestal. The carve work is beautiful and immaculate. The soapstone has a nice muted grey-green color with soft red and gold tone accents. The carved seal on the bottom has remnants of red pigment. Repulic period 20th century. Antique Japanese takeda ningyo doll of general Yoshitsume Minamoto of the Minamoto clan (born 1159, died 1189). He is considered to be one of the most famous samurai in all of Japanese history. He fought alongside his brothers Yoritomo and Noriyori in the Genpei War against the Taira clan, but would later be defeated at the Battle of Koromo in 1189. Mimura Kazuhiro(b.1931) is a nerikomi (multi-colored marbled ware) specialist who has had a very successful career exhibiting throughout Japan and at juried exhibitions as well, especially at the prestigious yearly Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition. This museum quality work dates to the late 70`s and is remarkable for the nerikomi technique on such a large form; in perfect condition at 45.7cm x 45.7cm x 7 cm. Stamped on bottom. Antique Japanese cloisonne vase with black enamel background; one side with imagery of two cranes standing beside a creek, bright flowers and bamboo in the background; the other side with a male peacock standing on a rock structure beside a female peacock, blooming peonies behind them. Another Tea kettle from our tetsubin collection: a cast iron Tea kettle tetsubin from China, marked 'Kangxi, 40th year (1700) and the name of a maker 'Kichinichi zo'.

It has some traces of age and some rust inside. Great item with sophisticated atmosphere.

A rare carved jade of an old man with a beard. Half of the jade on top is translucent and the bottom bottom half opaque. It is from the Hunan culture which was absorbed by the Han as their control spread over the whole of China. Size: H. 3.8cm. W. 1.3cm. See last three photos.

Vintage Japanese cylindrical form stoneware lidded mizusashi (water vessel for the tea ceremony) with horizontal ribs covered in a light creamy tan colored glaze with dripped patterning that stops short of the flat foot and recessed base. The interior and underside of the lid are coated in a glossy brown glaze. 20th century. Stands about 6 5/8" high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. This piece is from a Tucson, AZ estate.

Fantastic tea bowl by Kingyoku Nakata, the best specialist of Chibu art, made 40 years ago.

This bowl is designed with a granular white painting called 'Shiro (white)-Chibu, which is very rare in Kutani. (Ao (blue)-Chibu was made more often. Please take a look on an Ao-Chibu Tea Bowl - our item # 0188)

Beside the Shiro-Chibu there is a golden arabesque design, which is called Kin-Karakusa.

The Taoist immortal Liu Hai is performing a handstand on his three-legged toad. Condition: leg of the animal and foot of Liu Hai with small loss, a crack. Dimension: 9.5 cm high.

Lovely Meiji Era Japanese bronze hand mirror. Measures 10.75" by 7" diameter. Back can be polished or left as is.

Framed painting of a warrior with a drawn sword, holding a severed head in his hand. On his back a flag with the image of a skull. Perhaps one of the heroes of the Taiheiki, such as Endo Giemon Masatada. But between Kuniyoshi and other Utagawa artists, several series of heroes were produced. Unsigned. The style of Utagawa Kuniyoshi or Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. Black ink and colors on paper, mounted as a scroll, cut and framed. Japan, Edo period, 19th century.

Tibetan Himalayan Heavy large carved wood Manuscript/script Cover, some of the gold and Polychrome finish still remain between low relief carved design, 27 1/2" long, 10 1/2" high, 1 1/2" thick, weight is heavy and one(1) large size of wood panel was used. One end is carved with polychrome and gold finish, and the other end is not carved. There are some yak butter stains on wood, and rounded corners with age. The condition is good, no damage or restoration.
