SOLD Antique Korean pair of small Koryŏ porcelain cups. Elegant form with small feet and sharply flared sides. Fine celadon glaze in pale blue with high transparency. The interiors are a paler translucent glaze. Each cup has a simple blue underglaze dot in the underside of the foot.

Price on Request Antique Japanese calligraphy scroll painting by the Confucian scholar, poet, koto musician, calligrapher and artist, Ryū Kōbi (also called Ryû Sôro) (1714-1792). Sumi ink on paper. With three seals, one being his trademark Dragon seal.
This work is Waka poetry done in traditional 5-7-5-7-7 syllables or a 5-line wake poem. Which traditionally calls up an image of nature that then alludes to an emotion. This poem is one written long ago by the famous Chinese poet Zhang Ji (A... Chinese late Qing to early Republic period lady’s robe embroidered in polychrome silk and gold couched thread on a black silk ground. Eight gilt dragon and phoenix bird roundels are on the front, back, and shoulders. The bottom of the robe is gilt decorated in the traditional pattern of waves, stylized mountains, and diagonal bands of upright water (li shui) permeated with auspicious symbols. sold, with thanks! A set of sake decanters in the shape of Split Bamboo Tea Whisks by the third generation Kiyomizu Rokubei enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The artists stamp is clearly impressed into the nunome cloth-textured base. They are 14 cm (5-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition dating from the mid 19th century.
