Sold out We like to offer you a rare Japanese Hagi Chawan called 'Gohon Chawan', made in the old Korean style from ancient times and dating from the mid Edo period. Colour and glaze are equally rare and wonderful. We offer this fantastic chawan together with its Edo period wooden storage box and its cloth pouch called 'Shifuku'. This Hagi Gohon Chawan has a split cross footring called 'warekodai'. Tea bowls of this style were favored by busho chajin (warrior tea men)... Japanese Arita porcelain round form deep dish decorated in underglaze blue with a karashishi (Buddhist lion dog) among leafy flowers set against a faintly celadon tinted white ground. The back bears an abbreviated apocryphal Chinese Ming dynasty Chenghua reign mark (Taimin nenka) on the glazed base. The foot rim is unglazed. The outside well is decorated around the circumference with karakusa. Circa 1800. Measures just over 11 1/4" diameter x 2" high...
A Japanese sashi netsuke carved from stag antler, depicting the mythical Chinese fisherman Ashinaga with his long legs. Natural himotoshi (cord hole) between his right arm and chest. Condition: nice patina. Dimension: 13.5 cm long.

Mother of pearl is inset into the silver powder dusted lattice set between red lacquered pillars forming this art-deco era lacquer vase enclosed in the original signed wooden box by Iwamura Sadao (1912-1944). A brass insert which rests perfectly between the four corners allows for flowers. The strong geometric patterning embodies the Art Deco style so popular in Japan in the 1930s. The size of Kamakura-bori Deep Kashi Bowl: 10 3/4"Dia x 1 3/4" High. About 5/8" Thickness. This is prettiest of Kamakura-bori Kashi Bowl ever seen. The bowl is from Showa 13 th, 1938, 87 years old. It is dated on the back as 1938, April 18th. It has beautiful carved design of Ebisu and Daikoku design with Hoju (treasures). Two are from Shichifukujin (seven lucky Gods.). SOLD Antique Japanese Wakizashi sword with a gorgeous, black lacquered scabbard, the tip of which is edged in iron with gilt designs of flowers, matching the tsuba (hand guard) and the tip of the handle. Underneath the handle braids is the image of a crane on the menuki. The "tang" portion of the sword has the signature of swordsmith Takada Tadayuki. Early Edo age (1615-1867)

He is carved with very nice detail to make him appear fleshy, and movement can be seen in the wrinkles of his robes. Very heavy and finely carved.
