Diamond shapes with stylized Chrysanthemums border the interior rim and mountain ranges with dotted clouds surround the exterior of the plate. Six original stilt marks to the bottom of the charger indicate the charger was fired in the upper section of the kiln.

A small Japanese leporello album with lacquer covers, containing 46 hand-colored and mounted photographs (albumen prints). Mostly from Japan including topographic views, scenes with geishas, temples and landscapes, four photos are showing views of Shanghai, China. Dimension: total: c. 19.8 x 15.4 x 4.3 cm, photos: c. 8.6 x 12.6 cm. Condition: the album with traces of age, the mounts with light foxing, some added notes in ink. The photos faded and with wear.

Descended from a line of Kyoto samurai, KONDŌ YŪZŌ (1902-1985) chose ceramics as his profession after finding inspiration in the clay traditions surrounding his family’s home near Kiyomizu Temple... A spectacular elongated form rent from white porcelain clay covered in pale icy glaze by Kato Tsubusa enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This is a splendid and yet functional example of this artists work. It is 50.5 x 22 x 7 cm (20 x 9 x 3 inches) and is in perfect condition, directly from the artist this summer.
