Large Japanese Showa period circular form burlwood tray with raised sides made from a single piece of wood. 15 7/8” diameter x 2 1/4" high. The raised sides are 3/8" thick. Weighs just over 2 lbs. Likely dates from the first half of the 20th century. Very good overall condition. From the estate of a collector of Japanese mingei in Phoenix, Arizona. The original price tag remains on the bottom.

An incredible mixture of gray and lavender colors on the sculpted natural form of this expressive Chawan by the 8th generation Kaneta Masanao.

It comes with its originally signed and sealed wooden box titled Hagi Hai-yu (ash glazed) Kurinuki Chawan.

The style is Kurinuki, not formed on a wheel but cut and worked from a block of clay, an approach the artist is world wide famous for.

Wall vase in cast bronze, representing a dragon coiled on itself, its meandering body delimiting the contours of the vase. The casting must have been complicated and several holes and gaps appeared which were filled with welded bronze plates as can be seen in the detail photos. At the back a finely crafted ring allows the suspension. Most likely Japanese work...

It shows a 31-syllable poem of herself and her signature tastefully carved onto the tea bowl...

Japanese cast Iron Tetsubin, Iron Tea pot, with Bronze Top, 5" high include top knob, 8 1/2" with handle upright position, 6 1/2" wide- widest part include spout, brown rust inside the pot, pebble sandy finish outside. The condition is good.
