This is a vintage large rare Maneki Neko (beckoning cat) made in the Tokoname kiln region of Japan. Entirely hand painted and hand made, it is a very large size to bring an abundance of good luck to its owner. Designed as a coin bank, its original paper coin stopper is still intact. Raising the left paw, it is beckoning family, friends and happiness its way...

This large plate was fired with no glaze at the first, and the second fired pictured traditional pattern with blue glaze and the third colored picture depicted 2 Chinese men of literary taste and children playing at the garden, and the last painted with gold. This plate was made in Arita porcelain area at middle Edo period. Arabesque with flowers at the center, 3 chinese phenixes, 6 dragons are pictured around with fine brush strokes and octopus arabesque with blue glaze. A beautiful example of the iconic Zogan inlayed clay work of Takeuchi Shingo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The deep bowl swells in the midriff, closing at the rim to concentrate the aroma, with thin sides to allow the warmth to escape to the hands, a perfect bowl for winter tea. A deep tsutsu chawan by Omori Kenji in matte charcoal outside, soft, running pink within enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yakishime Chawan. It is 10.5 cm (4 inches) diameter, 9-9.5 cm (3-1/2 -3-3/4 inhces) tall. As it does not have a foot ring, it is decidedly deep, perfect for a cold winter day, and the warm colors inside, combined with the steaming green tea, would be fabulous...

An interesting modern water dropper (suiteki ) for ink painting of sculptured form with a rough Bizen feel to it. The maker name Shozo impressed on the bottom and inscribed tomobako storage box.
