It is "heavily-potted" and made from a dense fine-grained pale grey pottery. It has been "cold painted" in a pink/brown flesh-coloured pigment with traces of red and black pigments to the head and facial features...

Classic Liao 916CE–1125CE (aka Khitan) brown glazed sancai bottle. The Liao were a non-Han nomadic people, so the shape of this bottle resembles a leather flask that would be used by a culture on horseback. There are some kiln scars on the handle where it had come into contact with another piece during firing, which is a common feature from this genre of ware. Otherwise perfect condition, the glaze stable with a rich color. H: 28cm/11.4in and D:14cm/4.8in.

This attractively-decorated small porcelain dish was made during the Qianlong reign (1736 - 1795) of the Qing dynasty. The comical decoration in underglaze blue features a boy on an ox. To the underside is a small seal mark.
