Miniature statue of a dignitary, in formal attire, kneeling, with joined hands. Bronze, with fine age patina. China, Han dynasty. Height: 9.4 cm. Good condition.

This exceptionally large brush pot is carved "au naturel" to imitate a tree trunk. The sculpture is very well executed with a perfect natural rendering. The wood is very heavy, shaded with dark brown, black and red, naturally, without having been stained. The grain is fine and tight. Rosewood or Sandalwood? The trunk was hollowed out with a small "hole saw". This pot was purchased in the 90s. A photo shows it "in situ" in 2016...

A Devine and exceptionally beautiful Chinese GENUINE JADE recumbent HORSE Ornament, late Ming/Qing Dynasties. The carving of it's mane and tail is particularly fine, striking and superbly rendered in a waving-like manner and the jade is very, very smooth to the touch. This very refined mottled Horse has a craned neck, looking behind itself, which also brings motion to this creative and exceptional piece of art. Size: height 4.5 cm x width 6.5 cm. (1 3/4" x 2 1/2")...

The mother lying on a cushion plays with her child, her legs crossed and her mutilated foot, her "lotus bud" ostentatiously stretched out. The attitude is provocative and cheerful. The 2 characters are positioned on a large square base, thick and heavy in black hard stone veined with brown. The use of this object escapes us, perhaps it is one of the 4 weights for large carpets, as was customary in India...

The divinity is in bronze cast with lost wax, she is seated on a rock from which she can be easily separated, she is just placed and a tenon keeps her in the right position, she holds in her left hand a long scarf which after having surrounded its body widens curiously, it could be an empty bag, which is the attribute of Budai, the round and prominent belly of the statuette would confirm this hypothesis. The right hand held an object of which only the bottom part...

A rare Chinese painted grey pottery figure of a standing musician wearing a long robe and wind hat, Northern Wei dynasty (386 - 535 AD). 20 cms. Oxford TL test certificate. To date I have seen only one other musician from this rare set.

Delicately carved head of Fuxi, wearing an elaborate cap, his beautifully detailed face showing a slight smile. Wood, with remnants of superimposed layers of colouring. Remains of animal hair under the nose and chin to represent mustache and beard. Votive box (closed) at the back. China, Ming Dynasty period, 17th century. Height: 30 cm. The head is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition despite some flaking of the colouring...

The Chinese god of longevity is depicted standing holding a peach branch laden with fruit in his left hand. The peach is the symbol of immortality. The artist has represented Shoulao slightly bent by the weight of his years, his gait is hesitant and his step seems reduced and slow. The left arm rests on the kidneys to relieve the pain. The details are finely sculpted, the hairs of the beard are precisely incised. The facial expression is well rendered...

Antique Chinese gilt bronze figure of a bodhisattva standing on a lotus. Flowing drapery and high hair style with crown. Hands in Gyan Mudra (knowledge). Downcast eyes and compassionate expression. Overall patina.
