The bird and plant decoration is powdered with gold on a blown blue enamel background. Mandarin ducks, a symbol of marital happiness, are depicted, as well as a phoenix (Fenghuang) and a peony plant, both symbols of immortality. It is reasonable to assume that this vase was given as a wedding gift. Marked below the double circle in underglaze blue. Good condition, no accidents or restorations. The gilding, which is almost always used on porcelain of this type, is in perfect condition here...
