The cream-colored crackle glaze dish is decorated in copper brown in the fukizumi (blown ink) style with a central fish laid over a jar. Contemporary white porcelain jar by Lee Yong-soon (b.1957, Korea), with his unique interpretation for the ancient jars of the Joseon dynasty, approx. D 17 x H 17cm (6.69 x 6.69in). Uma-gake (horse cover) made of hand-spun cotton and has hand-drawn tsutsugaki design whose motifs are hyotan (gourd), tassel and kanji letters. Letters can be either the place or horse's name. This colorful one was used for a festival or a ceremony. It has red cotton lining. In excellent condition. 19th century. 31.5cm x 2m36cm The last image is one hint how uma-gake was used from the woodblock print, ukiyo-e by Katsushika Hokusai (1760~1849).

Rare antique Chinese multi-color scholar's brush holder in the form of the Chinese men's boot, Ming Dynasty 1368 -1644 AD.

Made of ceramic with sancai glazing, elaborately molded-in raised pattern, the boot's toe is adorned with a monster mask and richly glazed in cobalt blue, turquoise, brown, and cream beige.

A beautifully crafted Shino ware chawan with fantastic crackled glaze by Kato Gorohachi (?-1900) The potter signature is carved on the bottom.

Probably inspired by early Korean Ido shape examples, the bowl perfectly lies in hands giving strong Wabi feel.

There is not much information available about this Meiji potter even in Japan and his birth year is unknown.
He worked in the Hinno kiln of Aichi Prefecture in late 19 century.

This vivid Mino Iga tea bowl is made by renowned Japanese ceramist Yaemon Kato (b.1942)
The mark of the potter is carved near the foot ring.

Yaemon Kato, a third son of Juemon Kato (1894-1974), continued his father's efforts to revive and restore Mino ceramic art working on Shino, Kiseto, Oribe, Mino Iga, etc.
