A buff-terracotta vessel, with rounded body, tapering cylindrical neck with ribbed collar in relief and everted molded rim, the shoulder incised with concentric circle bands. An ornate tubular skirt, worn by wealthy women in Lampung, Sumatra. Woven in one piece, the striped cotton fabric decorated with couched gold-wrapped thread work and few sequins. Condition: fine, probably missing sequins. Dimension: 116 cm x 60 cm (double).

A leather or skin bag with original wonderfully cast brass fittings, both ends of the chain in the form of a singha head, the mythical beast, totem for all Batak People. Shamans "datu" kept magical substances in these bags. Please compare to the "salipi" in the collection of the "Musee du Quai Branly" in Paris. Condition: wear to leather and few small holes. A pair small statues of a woman and a man in traditional costume, cast and cold-worked in bronze and fixed on the original wooden stand. The woman is rolling cheroot cigars and the man is smoking one. Such small bronze figurines were souvenirs and gifts from British Burma. Antique Balinese Barong mask. The masked figure in Topeng dance dramas represents a protective spirit, a symbol of health and good fortune and is used during dance celebrations. This mask is carved of wood and painted with colors and gold details. Mounted on a metal stand.

Antique wooden lusong (mortar). This lusong was used with a lomok (pestal) by the B'laan people to pound rice in order to separate the grain from the husks. The B'laan people are indigenous of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. This lusong is especially large and beautifully carved of a single piece of hardwood. Size: 24 1/2" high x 21 1/4" wide diameter.
