Framed by a continuous band of botan karakusa, Peonie lotus scroll, within which are reserves containing, dragons, Ryu, in clouds and a gilt rim, kin-beni. The reverse decorated with hagi-karakusa, vine pattern and a six character mark for the Chinese Emperor Jiajing. The quality of the painting is of the highest standard...

An unusual vintage Japanese Choa tansu with Keyaki burl front hardwood panels. The chest is decorated with highly ornate floral motifs and filigree seen through the iron plating and hardware. A rare set of three Deshima (Scheveningen) small bowls of lobed lotus petal form, two of which have all the elements of the traditional Deshima pattern, cups in this pattern appear to be exceptionally rare in the literature compared with flat wares, and one with a Chinese interpretation of the scene, where the figures and landscape are transposed into Chinese Immortals and a traditional Chinese style landscape, examples of which appear in the Burghley Collection etc...

A Yuteki Tenmoku chawan in sumtous colors, dark blues within, midnight drizzling to sunrise pinks and sunset oranges on the side by Kimura Moriyasu enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 4-1/2 inches (11.5 cm) diameter and in excellent condition.

Japanese okimono boxwood carving of Ashinaga and Tenaga. Old Japanese folklore tells that Tenaga (with his very long arms) would climb onto the back of Ashinaga (with his very long legs) and would work to catch fish together. Dates from Taisho Period c1920.

Here is a fine example of a scholarly pursuit of finding the accoutrement for the use of calligraphy. A Japanese bronze tsuteke water dropper, in the form of an old sage or "Sennin" riding on the back of a turtle with its flowing hair-like tails. This is a rare and attractive example of Japanese Golden Age Cloisonne. The colors are bright and the design is very desirable. It is a unique piece that was probably made in the mid 1890's. The tray is heavy and measures 12 3/4 inches by 8 inches. All in all condition is very good and it displays wonderfully. If you look close, there is a short craze and slight bend in the outer rim (see image). There is some roughness on the bottom is from the firing process.

A squat form quintessentially Kishi Eiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box dated 1997. Purchased from the artist, it is 21 x 14 x 19.5 cm (8-1/4 x 5-1/2 x 7-3/4 inches) and is in excellent condition.
Kishi Eiko was born in Nara in 1948, and largely trained in the Ceramic Institute of Tekisui Museum. She was first exhibited in 1981 at the Women’s Association of Ceramic Art and was awarded that year...

An incredible work of florals on gold signed on the base Kutani Kaburagi Sei showing the very best of that regions pottery dating from the Meiji to Taisho period, when quality and craftsmanship was at its peak. It is 9 inches (23 cm) diameter, 13 inches (33 c) tall and in overall fine condition. There is a small tori-ashi (birds foot) glaze crack in the bottom but does not leak, and is only visible on the outside bottom.

Japanese set of 7 blue and white porcelain condiment cups. Each cup is formed with dramatic four lobed foliate rim, eggshell thin body with cobalt blue under enamel scene of Mt. Fuji and flower medallions. The foot of each cup is recessed and incised with lines in a circular order. Dates from the 19th century.

Antique Japanese small tansu chest made of kiri (paulownia) wood. It has six drawers of various sizes and a compartment with a small shelf covered by two sliding panels. Hardware is made of iron and includes warabite shaped drawer pulls, round lock plates, corner bracing and side handles.
