An incredible ivory netsuke of a Hannya devil mask with inlayed eyes. The detail in the Faust like features is absolutely superb. In this case I will let the photographs speak for us. Although not contemporary, this Netsuke dates from the mid 20th century. Due to certain features, we believe it was made in China prior to or during World War II, during Japans occupation (1932-1945). The, inlay in the eyes is consistent with this interpretation and the ivory appears to be of Indian origin...

A Japanese sooted bamboo boat-shaped basket designed for flower arrangements. The ship form represents a treasure ship (takarabune). The takarabune is a mythical ship piloted through the heavens by the Seven Lucky Gods carrying celestial treasures. In this case, some of earth's most beautiful treasures: its flowers. Originally, a ceramic container would be placed inside to accommodate the flower arrangement. This basket is still very usable having sturdy construction with no apparent breaks...

A vintage bronze Japanese Shishi or Fu Dog Okimono holding a spherical scrolling vine ball. Biting a decorative rope, its mouth is open to expel evil. Made in two parts, the sphere separates from the Shishi.

The Shishi is a mythical creature whose purpose to to protect Buddhism. Often seen at the entrance to Buddhist temples, it guards and protects believers of the faith.

Vintage Japanese conch shell horn, known as a horagai or a jinkai depending on its usage. The horagai has been used in Buddhist practice for over one thousand years. An antique Japanese Ikebana basket in a cylindrical form woven in a herringbone pattern. 6 vertical bamboo supports with flared feet connected with a lucky turtle weave at the base and a woven coin half the way up the side. The turtle would represent longevity and the coins would symbolize prosperity. With a star crossed base and two ring handles.

This is a fine Japanese Imari blue and white transfer porcelain plate with cobalt blue scattered floral and brocade panels inside a stylized fan design on chrysanthemum ground, the base having three spur marks with cobalt floral decoration on rim. A Japanese Kutani porcelain Koro or incense burner, with a round body raised on three animal-mask legs and applied with shishi-mask handles. The domed, pierced cover is surmounted with a further shishi. The whole decorated in overglaze enamels with peacock and golden pheasant amid rocks and peonies, all on a yellow "roe" ground. Marked with a seal to the base "Kutani" amidst scrolling clouds, it dates late 20th C, circa 1980, and is in excellent condition...

Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase from the Showa Period, circa 1930-1950s. Red body with plum blossoms on a branch. The red color used on the vase is known as, akasuke and is thought to be the most difficult color to produce and only the most skilled artisans can successfully produce its ruby red color. To create its color, gold is mixed with a glass like substance and is applied to the object and fired at a low temperature. It measures 5" tall, 1.25" opening, 2" base...

Massive Vintage Japanese Shigaraki Ware Tsukubai Jar made 70-80 years ago. Shigaraki ware belongs to one of the Six Old Kilns in Japan and originates from Koga town in Shiga Prefecture.
Among the unique features of Shigaraki pottery there are colour shades and patterns of red, brown and pink obtained by the firing due to the fire-resistant coarse soil as well as the dark tones of burnt by natural glaze...

Very sophisticated Shino chawan by Japanese artist Ko Ji Nakamura. It has a rarely seen Shino glaze of light pink, grey and blue color, designed with plum blossoms. A really aesthetic bowl which fits the palm of the hands perfectly.

This chawan was made around 30 years ago and is well balanced. The seal of his potter name (Kozan-gama) is stamped on the bottom.

It is is perfect condition. No chips or cracks.
