SOLD Antique Japanese suzuri bako, or calligraphy box, made from keyaki (zelkova) hardwood with hand-forged iron hardware. The top of the box is hinged with a large, shallow compartment. The front has two small drawers with iron rings pulls. This box would have once been used for storing ink stones and other calligraphy articles.

All drawers have heavy ornate back plate and heavy black iron handles, the condition is good, original condition, all the black iron works are solid and heavy.

Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. Mounted on coeval cardboard. Condition: fine, minimally faded, a tiny hole. Dimension: photo: 20.1 cm x 25.9 cm, cardboard: 34.8 cm x 43.8 cm.
Oversized Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) rendered in bold colors featuring a kabuki actor portraying a samurai plunging an arrow titled “Arrowhead” by Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992).
