$3,500.00 Large original Antique Japanese large low-fire ceramic mask of the Lucky God, Daikoku. His laughing face is round and painted with charming detail to his beards and eye brows. He is wearing his traditional hat that has been hand painted with great detail. One of the Lucky Gods, Diakoku is the God of Good Fortune as well as a god of the kitchen. It is possible that this mask may have hung on the wall in a temple's kitchen...

$3,500.00 Antique Japanese bronze statue of a hooded lady sitting upon a hardwood stand. She holds a cup in her hand with a small dish resting beside her feet. She is wonderfully sculpted with realistic detailing and form. The hardwood stand she is seated on is carved to look like rock formations with leaves and mushrooms with pigment traces. Meiji period (1868-1912)

SOLD Important Antique Japanese Buddhist Pilgrim's coat. Buddhist monks would embark on a pilgrimage to travel temple to temple. Upon arriving to each temple, the monk would bathe before giving offerings and reciting prayers as well as receive a stamp distinctive to each temple. Normally a monk would carry around a special stamp book however it is not unusual to stamp the monk's coat as seen here.
Very rare to find one with so many locations marked and visited...

$3,500.00 Rare Japanese bar tansu from the Mikuni region, made with Hinoki (cypress) wood front panels and Sugi (cedar) wood top and sides. Heavy in weight, with structural bars along the back and sides, all original deep red lacquer finish, the front locking bar with highly ornate iron display of auspicious motifs and turtle shaped lock pin.
Edo period (1603-1868) Circa 1830's. Size: 37.5" L x 19.5" W x 38" H

$3,500.00 Antique Japanese 2-section todana tansu, comprised all of Keyaki (elm) wood, with stunning, bold natural burl front panels with original, warm finish. Simplistic design with minimalistic hardware. Its two lowest sets of sliding door panels hold spacious shelved storage room within, while the top holds an open space. A small lift-away panel with an eggplant shaped handle adds a subtle touch of charm.

The wooden box has an attestation written by Sokuchusai, the 13th Omotesenke master. The chawan is named shira-kumo, white clouds. No chips or cracks except natural inborn and intended kiln cracks for a great wabi-sabi aura. Born 1857 as the eldest son of Keinyû, he succeeded as the 12th generation in 1871 at the age of 15...

It is 10-1/2 inches (26.5 cm) tall, 7 x 2-3/4 inches (18 x 7 cm) and is in excellent condition. Dating circa1950.
