Globular in shape, on a nashiji gold lacquer base, the decoration represents pines and bamboo in gold and black hira maki-e, hedatsu and kirigane of vegetation at the edge of a watercourse and stylized medallions of chrysanthemums. The interior is also in nashiji. Origin: Japan. Period: Edo (1603-1868) 19th century. Height: 5.5 cm.

This is a CHOSHI of Japanese lacquer ware. CHOSHI is a kettle for the sake which was made about 170 years ago in the late Edo period.

This is an old original item of master craftmanship. It is never imitation. It is lacquered on wood and never plastic etc. Used was only real Japanese lacquer. This incredible lacquer work is called MAKI-E.

Old (1920's) Japanese Lacquer Inro with Boxwood Toad Netsuke by Masanao III Miyake Kisaburo

It is 2.8 inches (7.2 cm) tall and 2.2 inches (5.5cm) wide. The netsuke is 1.2 inches (3 cm) by 0.97 inch (2.5 cm) wide. It is 42.9 gram.

It is in good condition with no repairs except chips, peeling of lacquer and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).

An exquisite old Japanese hair comb, lacquered on wood (kiri, boxwood?), practical yet ornamental with make design of wisteria like flowers. It is almost like new, never been used condition. The shape of this comb is unusual, irregular from one side to the other side. The shape is called Shin-bashi shape/style. Shinbashi is located in Minato-ku in Tokyo. This is beautiful and classy Japanese Shunkei Lacquer Fubako (stationary box) with fine Japanse Brocade design with flower and karakusa design.
