Beautiful Japanese ginbari cloisonne vase. At 9 1/2", this is an unusually large and desirable example among the same group. It probably dates from the Meiji period (1868-1912) when the art of Japanese cloisonné enamels reached its highest point. Technological improvements enabled artists to create wonderful examples, including one of the most desirable techniques called "ginbari" (silver foil foundation) shippo as you see it here...

Old Japanese Ito Ichizaemon Basse Taille Cloisonne Vase Koi Fish

It is 9.6 inches (24.4 cm) tall by 6.6 inches (16.8 cm) wide. It is 2.3 Lb.

It has enamel hairline cracks (2 cm) at the side and one at one fish. It also has tarnished metals and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Japanese Meiji period barrel form cloisonne enamel vase with three panels decorated in butterflies, flowers, and birds set against a powder blue ground. The cartouches are placed against a brown background covered in dense abstract and floral patterns. There is green counter enamel on the base and interior. Circa 1880s. 7 1/8" high x about 4 1/2" wide. The barrel form suggests it is possibly an early Namikawa piece. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs...

Old Japanese Olive Green Cloisonne Silver Vase with Biwa (Loquat) - Unsigned so Attributed to Gonda Hirosuke

It is 9.84 inches (25 cm) tall by 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide. It is 2.9 Lb.
