$1,400 A well made 19th century Japanese porcelain haisen (sake up rinser on stem foot). Rare Shunga decoration depicting a bondage scene within the bowl. The manner of the painted decoration in comic fashion similar to that found on some shunga makimono. Shunga paintings and prints are rare enough but encountered. Edo period porcelains with shunga decoration are exceedingly rare. Good condition. Height, 4 1/2 inches. Diameter, 6 3/4 inches.

$575.00 This is a fine Japanese Imari bowl purchased a few years ago from a collection belonging to a San Francisco Museum. The inventory numbers on this de-accessioned piece can be seen on the underside of the bowl. The bowl is beautiful and has a wonderful fluted design. It measures 10 across and is just under 4 1/2 inches tall. Condition is excellent.
Japanese late Edo period cylindrical form porcelain lidded wine pot on a raised foot decorated in underglaze blue with bands of leafy flowers set against a white porcelain ground. Fixed upright U-shaped handle. Mid-19th century. 8 3/4" high to the top of the handle x about 8” across to the tip of the spout. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Typical minor production irregularities.

Sold, with thanks! Wild chrysanthemum rise along a brief poem on the cream-colored sides of these Tokkuri by Seifu Yohei enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seizan Sakabin. They are 15 cm (just under six inches) tall and in excellent condition. There is a pre-firing imperfection in the rim of one of the Tokkuri.
Seifu Yohei I (1803-1861) founded the Seifu dynasty in Kyoto. He was born in powerful Kaga-kuni, modern day Kanazawa prefecture...

Very Rare Antique Pottery Bowl with Kenzan Signature made by Kiyomizu Shichibei (1818–1891).
Shichibei Kiyomizu was born in Kyoto in 1818 as the eldest son Takejiro of the second generation Rokubei Kiyomizu (1790-1860).
Instead of taking over the family title, he founded his own kiln by 1839 with the name Kiyomizu Shichibei.
It is not clear what was the reason behind that but it is known that Takejiro was a heavy drinker and was not allowed to use the same family name.
