SOLD Large scroll painting of a large tree sporting many twisting branches, with bright blooming flowers and leaves, and several playful squirrels climbing about or having a meal. Beautiful coloring and very detailed. Extremely fine brushstrokes are used to create the squirrels' fur. Signed and stamped by artist Huang Chu Xiang.

SOLD Antique Chinese hanging scroll of a "Courtesan Playing the Flute" signed Qiu Ying.
This painting is of two courtesans waiting to entertain the emperor. The emperor would be seated in front of a screen of dragons. The empress would be seated in front of a scene with phoenixes. The courtesan on the right plays the flute while the courtesan on the left holds a fan. The skill of Qui Ying can be seen in the rendering of the sheer quality of the fan, the courtesan's sleeve is visible behind it...

SOLD An antique Chinese seal chop of soapstone with an image of Hotei. Chinese seals are used with red ink or cinnabar paste (zhusha). A seal in an East is a general name for printing stamps and impressions which are used in lieu of signatures in personal documents, office paperwork, contracts, art, or any item requiring acknowledgement or authorship. The process started in China and soon spread across East Asia.
