A FINE SONG DYNASTY POT WITH BLACK-BROWN GLAZE, 14TH CENTURY, CHINA. THE GLAZE ONLY COVERS ABOUT HALF OF THE POT, THE REMAINDER IS UNGLAZED. THIS POT WAS FOUND IN THE MUSI RIVER, CLOSE TO PALEMBANG CITY, WHICH WAS THE CAPITAL OF THE SRIVIJAYA KINGDOM AND WHICH HAD A VAST TRADE NETWORK WITH CHINA AND SIAM. OVERALL CONDITION VERY GOOD, ONE HARDLY NOTICEABLE, TINY INCONSEQUENTIAL CHIP ON THE TOP RIM. SIZE: HEIGHT 7.5 cm x 7 cm diameter.

A well preserved SWATOW MING DYNASTY Polychrome porcelain plate, 16/17th Century, depicting a Phoenix. Size: 23 cm. diameter. No repairs nor hairlines, chips, cracks etc. Lovely Collector's specimen!

A genuine TANG DYNASTY (618-906 A.D.), China, EWER-KENDI drinking vessel with spout. Exceptional natural emerald green/black patina (river find)! Good overall condition, tiny chip on the very front of the spout. Base is not glazed. Size: height: 6 3/4" inches x 5" center diameter(17 cm. x 13 cm. center diameter). VERY RARE.

Description:

A bronze Buddha of Ming Dynasty was well preserved with fine gilding condition on the surface.
By darken sheen and with very limited abrasion on the ridges of the carvings, the Buddha was kept in a perfect condition except loss of the undercover.
Red protection slip was painted inside the hollowed inner side.

A Chinese gilt lacquered bronze Guanyin from Ming Dynasty. Condition: lacquer and metal loses, there is only part of the reddish-gold lacquer still remains on the surface. Description:

A gilt silver plaque was well decorated with motifs of QiLinSongZi, a most popular Chinese metaphor of the fairy animal Qilin sending child to the vowing family.
By characteristic Chinese scenes of pagoda, plum trees, Qilin and the figure riding through the water waves, the picturesque scene was well carved and chiseled by excellent craftsmanship.
It was a piece most likely a buckle on the cloth belt. There're old drilling holes on four corners for sewing thread...

The compressed globular body supported by three conical feet, with a pair of loop handles rising from the rim. PERIOD: Ming Dynasty. MEASURES: Height from feet to handle 10 cm and diameter 2.5 cm. CONDITION: No chips, cracks or hairlines and free from restorations.

A soapstone sculpture of the Chinese bearded sage Lao Tzu with staff and scrolls (one partially unfurled from the dragon form staff-head and one tied to his belt.) Engraved cloud decoration on the robe and on the hood over curly locks on the figure's high forehead. Three rather tame looking qilin rest at the figure's feet, looking to the sage - two with a heavenly cloud wisp issuing from their mouths indicating they are not of this world and emphasizing the suggestion of longevity...

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a good ginger jar with "double shu" design bestowing "double happiness," late 19th century, either Tongzhi (1862-1874) or Guangxu Period (1875-1908).

Jars such as this current example were often given as gifts containing foodstuffs with the lids glued shut. As a result, many lids were broken upon opening and subsequently lost to history, which is why so many are seen without their original lids...

From our Shipwreck Porcelain Collection, a fine and large blue and white Ca Mau Shipwreck dish ex-Sotheby's, Yongzheng Period 1723-1735, datable more specifically to circa 1725. The scene depicts Europeans (most likely Dutch traders) on what was once mistakenly thought to be Deshima Island in Nagasaki Harbor Japan, but which recent scholarship now concludes is either a scene of Holland in the Netherlands, or Gothenborg in Sweden...

A good Chinese boxwood carving of Budai. Three children clamor over him. A bat appears on his right hand. Bone and horn inlays detail his eyes and teeth. Rich, mellow old patina. Nice grain figure in places. Late Qing to early Republic. Ca 1900. Very good condition with typical minor distress checks in the old hardwood surface. Remnants of old label. Height, about 4 5/8 inches high.

An elegant and fine ink-stone (Shezhou, Anhui) made of carved, dark schist with minor, green-brown inclusions. One “eye.” Two small feet at top end. Fitted and finely carved lid of chicken wing wood (jichimu). The inscription reads: “A treasure from the Zhishi shanfang.” In a Japanese box from the 19th century (with full inscription). China: Qing, probably 18th cent. L 16,5 cm, W 11 cm. Condition: Excellent (small chip in ink-well).

A well-carved ivory snuff bottle depicting two of the sixteen Buddhist Arhat. The bottle is undoubtedly carved in Japan as the neck is made from a separate piece of ivory and screws into the body of the bottle. The carving style suits the subject matter and the bottle has a pleasing patina from handling. There is an unidentified studio marking on the base.

From our Chinese Polychrome Collection, a good Kangxi Period (1662-1722) flower basket plate executed in soft famille verte enamels. The flower basket motif is generally associated with symbolizing longevity and abundance, but sometimes its association with one of the most enigmatic and eccentric of the Eight Immortals, Lan Caihe, is overlooked. Lan Caihe was actually the patron saint of florists whose distinguishing attribute is the flower basket...

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a good Ming Dynasty kraakware dish, late Wanli Period circa 1600-1620, of well-known and documented form, executed in Border VIII style with a central bird some scholars opine is either a magpie or a duck, sitting upon a lotus pond outcropping and encircled by a ten-point buddhist star, further encircled by ten ogival panels of buddhist symbols in the outer border, all executed in a slightly greyish blue on a barbed-form dish with slightly upturned lip...

A white-glazed amphora was in grandeur look.
By an ovoid belly, the wall sprang from the solid flat base, expanded rapidly then curved to form a bulging shoulder.
Under the dished mouth, the long ringed neck rested to the broad shoulder on which was circulated with a raised ridge...

Description: A traditional Chinese religious sculpture was in a image of Louhan and was preserved with original paints and gold leaf. Date: 14th-15th Century. Material: Wood. Height: 44cm Width: 26cm Depth: 19cm Condition: Overall in good condition except some wear at the lower part of the torso. Stand, part of left palm and religious weapon holding in the right hand were lost .

Descriptions:
A granite head piece was well preserved.
With characteristic facial features, the stone piece was retained on the surface with old conditions that only ancient time can cause.
