It is a small container which is carved in a black stone which is not very hard. I think it is a soapstone. It was covered with a layer of solid red lacquer which has partially worn away with use and time. The central receptacle is flanked by 2 dragon heads which have their mouths open. The mouths are pierced with holes as for a teapot. It appears to be a 2-light oil lamp...

Large Chinese late Qing dynasty export porcelain punch bowl decorated around the circumference in famille rose enamels with birds, flowers, and butterflies. A dense polychrome enamel border extends around the interior and exterior of the top. A few blue bats are scattered on the exterior border and gilt highlights the rim. 14 1/4" diameter x 6 1/2" high. A pair of massive museum quality matching pottery figures of a male and female attendants, middle Ming Dynasty, 15th.-16th. century.

The figures are matching in torquise and cobalt glazes and stands on large plints. The male figure in this pair was Termo-Luminescence testet by Ralf Kotallas Laboratory and it was made during the Middle Ming period (15th.-16th. cent.). He is holding a teapot.
