It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery and has been decorated by "cold painting" different coloured pigments in a design featuring cloud patterns within vertical bands. It is decorated in relief with 2 dragons, a crane in flight and a deer. The clay is white covered by a transparent glaze.Usually, these white Chinese cups are made of hard porcelain, those made of soft paste like this are rarer. The cup is in good condition there is only a small chip on the upper edge which is clearly visible in photos.
