The body is made out of one piece elephant ivory and finish in a term "cold painted ivory" meaning that the color is applied without any firing to fix and harden it. This method of coloring ivory dates back to the Ming times and was particularly popular in the 18th century. This is probably 19th century piece. An absolutely stunning large Chinese carving of a Buddhist Rakan (Arhat or Arahat), the emaciated figure wrapped in billowing robes with a hand scroll clutched in his bony right fist. The detail in the hairs around his face is incredible. The holy figure is chiseled from Ryuganki (dragons eye wood) and comes enclosed in a box dated 1922, likely the year it came to Japan, and is signed by the then owner...

A rare very well carved soapstone sculpture of Lui Hai in traditional pose ensnaring the three -legged toad with a string of cash. This item was made circa 1750 - 1800 during the reigns of either the Qianlong or the Jaiqing Emperors. The Bixie was well carved with protruding eyes, ruyi-shaped nose, curved ears and single-horned head.
By vividly depicted ribs on its abdomen and the flouring hairs of the tails, the fairy beast was rest on the flat bottom in plain form-an important characteristic for early jade carvings.

A wood Lohan was carved in sitting posture.
In simple form, the Lohan was well depicted on the wearing robe with delicately lacquered motifs.
He was finely preserved on the surface with enduring old patina, like the sheen of the old bronze. The patina was charming and was hardly found from the wood pieces.
Some defects were noticed on the decayed hands and at the bottom which were caused from long time of age...

A charming white jade belt hook was exquisitely carved in dragon's head shape.
By the precious Hertien pebble quality, the jade piece was reflected with fine greasy-feel sheen on the surface.
Characteristic old jade's tissues were revealed under the reflection when some incursions were occurred to the material verifying its authenticity.

Chinese antique figure of Fugen the Bodhisatva of Faith and Practice, She is sitting on top of her elephant vehicle with one foot on a lotus blossom, carved of wood with muted gold and red lacquer, 19th century. Size: 16 1/2" high x 14 3/4" wide x 9 1/4" deep.

Charming Chinese soapstone carving of two children, beautifully carved with much attention to detail, two boys one holding a long string with coins for good luck and prosperity, the other with a straw hat and fan, symbols of the lucky gods. The soapstone itself is a very beautiful yellow color with striations and much character. On nice hard wood base. Total size with stand: 5 1/4" high Size of carving: 3 1/2" high x 3 7/8" wide x 2 1/8" deep.

A rock crystal carving was well depicted as a Guanyin holding a baby.
By characteristically dated features on the faces of the deity and the baby, the figures were well carved on the robes with affluent lines.
The benign facial expression of the Guanyin and the smiling face of the baby were well rendered by excellent traditional craftsmanship.
The rock crystal here was not in pure transparent look...

A brush pot was made from the hard-quality and very rare Huangyoungmu's root wood.
In intriguing and natural shape, the brush pot was preserved preciously by generations and have obtained the charming honey-brown patina that the ancient wood piece would only get.
It was in perfect condition.
One original hole was down underside. It was for fastening to a possible base...

Lovely small wooden house altar with fine carving and its original gilding and the original cover (most of the time the covers are missing). 19th century. Dimensions: 35x30x14 cm. Condition: a crack in the cover, some wear to the lacquer and gilding.
