Korean wrapping cloth, chogappo which is made of recycled ramie (choma) fragments. All hand sewn except for a blue belt. A small Korean lidded burial jar from the Silla Dynasty, United Period, 8/9th Century. The jar has an overall stamped design, and shows kiln glossing over its otherwise unglazed exterior. The jar with lid measures about 4 1/2" high x 4 1/2" in diameter. The jar and lid are in very good condition, but there are a few very small chips on the lids' rims. A large kitchen storage jar that was made in North Korea. The Jar is an example of Korean folk art, and it has hand painted blue and green designs on a white base. There is brown staining to the exterior and interior surfaces, where the contents (probably soy sauce) bleed into the stoneware. There are two side handles for carrying. The jar measures about 16" high x 12" in diameter, and dates to the late Chosen Dynasty...

Korean two-unit stacked chest (ichung nong) with beautiful persimmon wood front panels, and a fruitwood frame. brass hardware, four rectangular top drawers with brass bat-shaped handles, and a set of hinged drawers on each unit with a large brass butterfly lock in the center and brass butterfly hinges. The Korean word for 'bat' is a homophone for the Chinese word for 'good fortune', so bats are considered a good luck charm, and butterflies represent happiness...
