An elegant men's headgear dating around 1900, consisting of the cone-shaped indoor headdress and the outdoor heungnip or gat. Both are made of horsehair, the gat with a bamboo brim and gauze chin straps. The top part of the hat with a lacquered blossom. Condition: traces of usage, some splits near the bamboo brim. Dimension: gat: diameter 32 cm x c. 14 cm high, headdress: c. 14 cm high.

A brass wash pan that was used for personal grooming during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been formed by the process known as wrought, where the metal is worked into shape by beating it with a hammer. The hammering marks on this pan are clearly visible. The pan measures 4 3/4" high x 16 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. It is good example of folk ware and metal art. He was covered in an oyster shell pigment in order to smooth out the woodgrain, a red lacquer was applied over it, and finally a gold leaf topcoat was applied. A traditional pair of Korean hand-carved wood clogs, or Namakshin. This type of footwear was originally introduced to Korea by shipwrecked Dutch sailors during the mid 1600s. Similar to the Japanese geta, Namakshin have two stilts beneath each shoe, designed to protect one's feet from muddy, wet ground.
