A Fine Korean Traditional Folk Art Tiger and Magpie Painting-19th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, late 19th century, Framed without glass. Painted in ink and color on paper with tiger and magpie on a branch of pine tree, a tiger positioned of listening a message from messenger, a magpie, with good news. It’s in fine condition but has a small stain on the upper left. It measures 89cm x 51cm (35” x 20”) painting only, or 101cm x 76cm (40” x 30”) overall.

Ahn Jong Kyun Korean Contemporary Porcelain Vase

A Korean vase dating from the early Joseon period (“Richo” in Japanese; 1392-1897). This particular piece appears to date from the 16th/ 17th century and comes with an antique wood box. The light brown crackled glaze is smooth in the hand and has a warm inviting rustic feel. Several gold repairs can be seen along the upper rim providing a subtle yet noticeable contrast between the rustic glazed clay and the shiny metal...

Of compressed globular form with attenuated cylindrical neck painted with grapevine and grapes on one side and on the other in copper red, grayish white glaze applied over the surfaces including base, firing grits adhered on foot rim. According to the Brooklyn Museum, these belt hooks in the form of a horse come from Lelang, one of three commandaries, or colonies, that the Chinese established in northwest Korea during the Han dynasty and that lasted more than four hundred years (108 B.C.E.–313 C.E.). Antique anonymous Korean eight-panel screen decorated in ink and color on paper with scenes of Mongol horsemen in a hilly landscape hunting tigers, wild boar, deer, birds, and rabbits with a variety of weapons. The mounting is green silk brocade. Early 20th century to possibly late Joseon dynasty. Full screen: 52” high x 138” long (painting size per panel: 14.5" high x 17” wide (two end panels: 14.5” square). Very good overall condition with no tears or punctures on the front...

Antique Korean scholar's low table. Its top pair of panels are book matched of persimmon wood, with a boxwood frame. The inner compartment still shows traces of ink; The opposite compartment would hold brushes. The drawer has a wonderful persimmon cover that continues to the order of the low table. The low writing implement table has an inverted key fret leg and internal low shelf of boxwood.
