A rare Polychrome Woodcut "Artisansin Straw" by Mitsuoki Tosa (1617 to 1601), Japan, framed. From a collection of Artisans. Good condition, size: 19.5" x 13.75". Tosa Mitsuoki was one of three outstanding Tosa painters to the imperial court, also known as "Three Brushes".

An exquisite Lacquer Tray decorated with a spray of flowering Azalea in gold powder with mother of pearl, ceramic and lead inlays. Large kirigane flakes of solid gold decorate the petals. It is enclosed in a wooden box titled Tsutsuji Maki-e Nagatebon (Azalea Makie-e Tray). It is quite large at 19-1/2 x 14-1/2 x 2 inches (49.5 x 37 x 4.5 cm) and is in fine condition, dating from teh later Meiji to early Taisho period (1895-1915).

Sold! Impressing black Raku tea bowl of the Raku family, made and signed by the 10th Kichizaemon Tan-Nyu.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). The reverse side of the lid has an appraisal of the grand tea master of Omoto-Senke.

Sold! Little distorted half cylinder shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay during the Edo Period with strong black ink glaze and a rarely seen patina.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical black iron oxide glaze inside and outside. The chawan has a very rare 'decoration' with hanging persimmons (hoshikaki) scratched into the engobe and a tea room window inside and a plum blossom painted under the clear glaze...

This is hemp Umakake used in Iwate for Edo period. As for this, hemp is spun by hand and is thick. This item is a state of the most common damage about hemp Umakake. When Umakake is used many times, damage increases. And the hemp added to a good texture when use and washing were repeated many times. The good-quality natural indigo plant becomes the color such as this item...

A lovely Japanese porcelain Imari bowl with 2 ho-ho birds in the center symbolizing yin yang. Two more elaborate birds are painted on the inside panels. Unusual to find a decagonal bowl, it is in excellent antique condition with expected wear to the gold trim on the rim. Measures 7" (17.8 cm) across by 3" (7.6 cm) high. Signed on bottom. Dates 1700

This is decoration cloth used in Iwate for Edo period. This is dyed in indigo plant, black, Bengara- color. Hemp thread is spun by hand and this is thick. The back side is dyed into this with a natural indigo plant. This is cloth for ceremonies of the celebration. This has few stains, but there is not the damage. The state is complete. Size 542cmx 25cm (214 "x 9.8")

Antique Japanese reclining black bull, wonderfully sculpted in Ceramic. Painted low-fire ceramic in good condition. Very heavy and charming. Great life like detail. Meiji Period (c. late 1800's). Size: 11" high x 23" long x 11" deep.

Gorgeous Rare Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) from Sado Island, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with translucent reddish orange lacquer finish, fantastic iron hardware including large and elaborate lockplates featuring phoenixes, safe door open to two small drawers, Meiji Period (circa late 1800's). Stunning original Condition Size: 44 1/2" high x 45 1/2" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

Antique Japanese two section Kiri wood Nihon Matsu tansu with top and sides lacquered in deep red. This chest has four large and medium drawers with decorative backplates handles, and large iron locks incised with different flora. The top section has a side lockbox with three small drawers inside. A working key is included. Dates from the Edo Period c1850. Size: 38" height, 33.25" width, 16.75" depth

Japanese antique 2-section butsudan, a Buddhist shrine for use in the home. The front exterior of the shrine is made with beautiful red finish hardwood with black lacquer sides, folding silk meshed interior doors with gilt lacquer panels of flying cranes, a beautiful miniature temple scene inside where the image of a deity and offerings are to be placed. A carved gilt panel with dragons hangs overhead...

A large and ornate kiseru (tobacco pipe) dating from mid-to-late Edo. The metal fittings forming the ends of the pipe are engraved with detailed cherry blossoms and maple leaves being carried by the current of a stream. The bamboo tube connecting the fittings is in excellent condition and displays a soft warm luster. This piece is quite large as kiseru go—measuring 11.2 inches in length (28.5 cm)...

Very nice Satsuma water jar often used in Japanese tea ceremony. Made in a drum form, the body features boys at play. Being quite versatile, it would make a wonderful biscuit or candy jar from which to offer guests a treat. In excellent condition, it measures 5.5 inches high.
