A student of Joichi Hoshi who was influenced by Hoshi's use of metallic pigments, the artist set the flowers and partial moon (or sun) against a metallic background. Depending upon the lighting conditions (see image taken with flash) the background appears either golden or silver. The print is pencil-titled in kanji "Autumn (Bellflowers)" and numbered 3/55 at the lower left...

An amazing amount of work to save the fragments. The bowl is 12.5 cm (5 inches) diameter6.5 cm (2-1/2 inches) tall and comes enclosed in an old Kiri-wood collectors’ box...
