A tall celadon vase by Minegishi Seiko complete with shiroi and Shifuku enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Suiseiji Shinogite Somimi Hanaike (Crystal-Celadon Faceted Two-Handled Vase). It is 26.5 cm (10-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

A perfectly turned orb vase covered in fissured celadon by Minegishi Seiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is roughly 12 inches (30 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. Born in 1952 in Saitama, he studied under various masters in Nagano, Tochigi and Ibaragi, going solo at the young age of 22. He worked in Kohiki ware initially, but moved to celadon, and is considered one of a select few true masters of that form in Japan today...

Height approximately 20.5 cm. This is glued between trumpet section and the vase body. There is added color to the connection line only, others are not there. Conditions as in the pictures. More pictures are available.

A true part of Kyoto modern ceramic history, this robust vase reminiscent of Okinawan Kaki-otoshi ware was created at the Kyoto 2nd Industrial School circa 1925. It comes in the original wooden box titled Black Glazed Vase with Flower Motif, and signed inside Kyoto Shiritsu Dai Ni Kogyo Gakko followed by a large red seal. It is 27 cm tall, 23 cm diameter and in excellent condition. The roots of the mingei movement, ravaging the Japanese ceramic world at the time, are clearly evident...

A captivating piece described on the box as “aka e sakana bun” which can be loosely translated as, Depiction of Fish with Red Overglaze. Okuda (1920-1999) was a student of both Hamada Shoji and Kawaii Kanjiro and his kiln was visited by a number of well-known artists including the likes of Bernard Leach...

Century Japanese Ebony Wood Netsuke: Tanuki Badger, Signed Minko with Kakikan

19th Century, finely hand-carved boxwood netsuke depicting a seated Tanuki, or Japanese Badger (raccoon dog) raising his right paw in order to beat his belly, or distended scrotum as it if were a drum. Pupils made in bronze and inlaid with black horn. Wonderful chimney himotoshi that starts on the bottom, and extends to the left side of his body, between his legss...

A superb Iga Mizusashi by Saji Kotaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 7 inches (18 cm) diameter, 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) tall and in excellent condition. Saji Kotaro was born in 1947, and relocated to Tajimi in 1977 where he opened a kiln in Yamabuki cho specializing in tea ceramics.

Mint Oni-Hagi masterpiece chawan with notched foot by star potter Seigan Yamane. This extraordinary tea bowl is covered by wonderful different shades of green and purple glaze on brown pottery. In my opinion it is the one of the most aesthetic chawans that he made. The seal of the artist is stamped on the bottom. We have a similar chawan with orange-red glaze - same price.

Seigan Yamane was born in 1952, and started making Hagi ware in 1987...

Here is a brilliant Chawan by Master Mashiko Potter and Living National Treasure Shimaoka Tatsuzo enclosed in the original signed and stamped wooden box. It is in mint condition with no chips or cracks.

Shimaoka Tatsuzo (1919-2007) is one of the best-known Japanese potters. The artist studied under another pottery legend, Hamada Shoji, to become one of Mashiko master craftsmen...
