Mimura Kazuhiro(b.1931) is a nerikomi (multi-colored marbled ware) specialist who has had a very successful career exhibiting throughout Japan and at juried exhibitions as well, especially at the prestigious yearly Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition. This museum quality work dates to the late 70`s and is remarkable for the nerikomi technique on such a large form; in perfect condition at 45.7cm x 45.7cm x 7 cm. Stamped on bottom. Rare large pair of beautiful original Japanese bronze temple lanterns with gilt highlights. A Sasarindo crest on the section where the light would be placed; the Sasarindo is the bamboo leaves and gentian flowers crest of the Minamoto clan.
The doors are fully functional. Each lantern is made of 6 individual cast bronze sections. A pearl in a flame sits on top of each lantern. Two very intricate dragons wrap around the lanterns. There are abundant motifs of dragons, flames and clouds...

A very large pair of hardwood transom / temple architectural elements, elaborately carved with charming motifs of squirrels eating from grape vines. The carvings are deeply recessed with raised outside edges of a scrolling form. Realistic grape vines and leaves continue along the underside of each transom. Very heavy. A large pair of decorative vases painted with a pattern of stylised peonies in underglaze blue and gilt set against an iron red ground. The vases are of compressed mallet shaped form with wasted body and flared mouth, a form used at the Fukugawa factory from the late 19th century onwards. Probably early 20th century in date. The vases weigh respectively 2.152kg and 2.016kg and stand 29cmand 28.7cm high...

Unusual large pair of antique giboshi (bridge finials). Made of bronze mixed with a substantial amount of copper. This can be seen in areas of where people's hands have rubbed back the finish. A lovely almost black patina with areas of green. Very heavy and solid. Unusual to have a matching pair this size. Mid Edo Period (circa 1800's). Size: 16 1/2" high x 8" wide diameter.
