Japanese Arita porcelain round form deep dish decorated in underglaze blue with a karashishi (Buddhist lion dog) among leafy flowers set against a faintly celadon tinted white ground. The back bears an abbreviated apocryphal Chinese Ming dynasty Chenghua reign mark (Taimin nenka) on the glazed base. The foot rim is unglazed. Two hinged doors open to reveal a central standing carved wood Kannon figure on a pedestal base set against a gilt ground. A round metal halo is behind his head and he wears a metal crown and neck ornament. The interior doors are painted in polychrome with Bodhisattva figures. The case measures 12” high. 19th century. The zushi is remarkably intact and stable for its age...

Sold A Japanese carved and lacquered wood figure of a Buddhist Guardian. (Originally part of a small scale group comprised of at least a central figure and pair of acolytes.) Up to 12 such guardian figures are possible in a temple grouping. Condition is good and presentable with one small loss of wood to one sleeve and some minor lacquer losses. Missing are a nimbus and possibly an ornament atop the helmet. Height: 9 3/8 inch (23.8cm) including a 3/16 (1.9cm) inch high base to which it is affixed.

$330.00 This is Japanese Edo era Beautiful silk of the patchwork yosegire beni-itajime jyuban. It is comprised of four kinds of itajime-dye and eight kinds of katazome-dye and Safflower dyeing . It is all silk of the Edo era.
It has a slight damage to a sleeve and a collar. However, it is in a state very good generally. I recommend it to you collection.

This kimono is original from the Edo period and consists of 6 types of safflower dyeing and 1 type of edo type dyeing. The lining is also safflower-dyed silk from the Edo period. There are some small stains and damage. However, overall it is in very good condition. I recommend it to your collection. Size: 131cm (515inch) 116cm (45.6inch)
Gold lacquer suzuribako (writing set) representing a pine tree in a rocky mass in takamaki-e on a kirigane background.
The inside of the lid and the writing case is decorated with an interlacing of hiramaki-e foliage on a dense nashi-ji background.
Accompanied by its original box with partially identified inscription, "Suzuribako with lid - gold nashi-ji [...]" (金梨地 [1 unidentified kanji]画 [2 unidentified kanji] 硯筥覆).
